Vehicle Detail

I have just purchased a one owner 1979 F250 CUSTOM 351 4 speed 4X4 pickup with 44609 miles. It had 44602 but I have driven it 7 miles so far to check it out. I haven't changed oil, washed it or done anything to it but drive it in 4 wheel drive slowly to check out it's function and to lubricate it. I still have to add gas and drive it at highway speed on the back roads. It still has the owner's manual, ownercard etc that came with the truck when new. I have a signed letter attesting to the original mileage from the original owner. The truck is from Wyoming and is still titled in that State. The owner lost the original title and purchased a replacement, which is from Wyoming also. It has the original title number on it. The owner ordered this truck with the 1 1/4 or ton front end for the snow plow setup. I don't know if he ever hooked one up, but I can ask him. The owner moved fromWyoming to California and the moved to Indiana, driving the truck here about 20 years ago. The owner was a Professor at Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and was in the Marine Corp Reserves. This was his first truck and was reluctant to let it go, but his new business keeps him away and he doesn't have time to get it restored and to be able to enjoy it once again. I will be taking more pictures, but it is too cold and windy today. The truck starts right up and doesn't smoke or chatter. The transmission shifts fine and the oil looks good and I didn't have to add any. The muffler and tailpipe were put on at Midas and have a lifetime warranty and the warranty paper is there with the truck. The truck has lots of surface rust but no rust through on the body. The center of the bed is shot. It sat with leaves in it for years. the rest of the bed is in good shape and must be galvanized?? The brakes feel soft and I haven't checked them out. They stop the truck, but not well enough to drive it in traffic. If I was into Ford's, I would do a body off restoration and have a great truck. Compared to a new truck, this could be a great investment for a truck to drive and take hunting, plowing snow or whatever. The floors feel solid and I will get under the truck when it warms up towards the end of the week and get a few pictures of the underside of the truck. The frame and shocks have surface rust, but the truck rides fine and the shocks are not leaking. The tires are good to go. The interior needs a new headliner, dash pad and the left arm rest needs a screw replaced. If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them and I have contact with the original owner. I haven't changed the title over to my name yet, so it is still a one owner truck. Good luck bidding.
