1990 Jaguar XJS Convertible The first XJ-S appeared for 1976 model year. Power came from the Jaguar V-12 with a choice of a manual or automatic transmission, but the manual was soon dropped. V-12 cars were unusual at the time, with notable others coming from Italian luxury sports car makers Lamborghini and Ferrari. The specifications of the XJ-S compared well with both Italian cars; it was able to accelerate to 60 mph in 7.6 seconds and had a top speed of 143 mph. The car offered is a spectacular example, showing an original Carfax certified 62,000 miles from new. A 2 California owner from new car, it presents perfectly in its original unblemished silver blue metallic paint, with excellent chrome and brightwork. It features colour-coded BBS Alloys with good tires. The soft top is excellent, works perfectly and has a boot, which has never been on the car! Mechanically, the car is superb, with a substantial file of service records, including a recent brake overhaul. The engine is responsive, transmission is smooth, brakes, suspension and steering are all excellent. The AC blows cold. The grey leather interior of the car is near immaculate. The car has had sheepskin covers on the seats from day 1, as can be seen from the impeccable condition of the leather. Wood veneer accents are in good condition, as is the dash, all panels and carpets. Becoming more collectible, it’s getting harder to find the Jaguar XJS in this condition with excellent provenance, mileage and condition. Here is an immaculate example of the stylish and desirable roadster.
