Vehicle Detail
Basics: 1981 Toyota Land Cruiser Model HJ47 Troopie Toyota 2H Diesel Motor 4-Speed Australian Troop Carrier Right Hand Drive * This is a 1981- NOT a 1980. Because it has an Australian VIN, it would not accept the number in the ebay file. The correct VIN is HJ47008173. I had no problems registering it in SC and it is insured with Geico.* The actual miles are unknown. When I bought it, it had a KM odometer/speedometer which didn't work. I replaced it with MPH, but still have no idea what the mileage was when I bought it. I figured it's a Toyota diesel, so mileage doesn't really matter anyway! Fuel Conversion: - Can run on Diesel, Biodiesel, Waste Vegetable Oil, or any combination of these. It has a 2-tank GoldenFuel WVO System professionally installed by Carolina Greasel in Lumberton, NC - I have been running WVO in it for the past 5 years with no issues or problems whatsoever. This truck is regularly used in schools to demonstrate alternative-fueled vehicles. - They are saying Gas will be over $5.00 per gallon by Memorial Day. WHO CARES??? You won't use THEIR fuel in this rig! Laugh at the minions and their gas-burning money wasters as you drive past the gas station! Seriously...with this system, I go to the gas station only 2-3 times a year, and drive it every day. I save thousands of dollars a year by not buying gas! Restaruants give away the oil for free. No processing needed...just filter it with something like the "1-shot" by goldenfuel systems and put it in your tank. Check out www.goldenfuelsystems.com for more info on this.- I already have another toyota diesel waiting for me whenever this one sells, and I WILL be putting in another Goldenfuel systems WVO conversion. Engine/Drive Train: - Engine was steam cleaned inside and out, and all gaskets and seals replaced this July by my diesel shop in Myrtle Beach. - Front disc brake upgraded - Chrome molly axles - Aisin locking hubs. - Dual Optima yellow top batteries with isolator - Custom Metal-Tech 8-Point internal rollcage - 33 Inch BFG KM2 Mud Tires new this summer (including spare) - 3 inch shackle lift Interior: - Inside was stripped and sanded to bare metal, then rustproofed, coated, and Rhinolined - The only place with rust is the driver's side floorboard because the door seal leaked and water had been gathering under the original carpet. Part of this was fixed and reinforced when the roll cage was put in. The rest of it still needs to be done. Again- this is the only significant rust on the entire truck! - All seats were removed and replaced with new seats. Plush, reclining, and with folding arm rests - Rear bench seat with new 3-point seatbelts. - BestTop Soft doors - Am/Fm/CD player with 4 speakers and powered sub - Refrigerated center console - Power outlets front and rear General Info: - I bought this truck back in 2005 with the intention of converting it to run on WVO. Once I converted it, it became my daily driver, and I sold all my other vehicles. I love this truck. It always draws a crowd and sparks interesting conversations in parking lots. It has been featured on TV and movies, photoshoots, and people take pictures of it all the time when I am driving next to them. - I have never had any problems with is other than the usual mechanical things, such as brake pads, glow plugs, broken wires, etc, but it has never left me stranded, and is as reliable as the day it was made. - I am selling it because I am now required to travel a lot on the interstate. This truck will run 60-65mph all day long so it was never an issue, but now I need something that will be able to go interstate speeds. I hate to do it, but I think it is time for someone else to experience this truly unique vehicle.WARNING: Do NOT buy this truck if you don't want to be noticed! I can't pull into a parking lot without someone coming up and talking to me about the truck! I constantly hear, "I saw you at the....." or "I was behind you the other day at..." What's next: This truck really needs nothing done to it. Here is a list of what I am (was) planning: - Soft top - Replace instrument panel with new billet aluminum and Autometer gauges - New 3-4 inch suspension lift - Rear locker (I have this- just not installed it yet) SEE MORE PHOTOS AND VIDEOS HERE: http://s819.photobucket.com/albums/zz116/HJ47Cruiser/Troopie/ and a photoshoot here: http://robmills.viewbook.com/album/modelhannah?p=1#1
