Vehicle Detail
This car was restored in 2010 to be raced in NASA/SCCA events. I am now looking to sell because I got too busy to race it and really need the garage space back for an expanding business. Starting the bid at a ridiculously low $2200 with NO RESERVE. Clear blue Texas title registered in my name. Street legal and registered as antique through March 2013. The speedometer that was in the original car was at 74,xxx. ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN - Head rebuilt by Scroggins Automotive Machining in Houston - New timing chain - 5 speed transmission installed from a 198X 280ZX - MSA solid differential mount - All new gaskets - New clutch, clutch slave cylinder, fuel hoses, fuel filter, water pump, alternator, distributor rotor and cap, oil pump, brake lines, brake pads - Intake shaved of all emissions - Billet aluminum fuel rail by Pallnet with new Toyota 22RE fuel injectors - Aeromotive Fuel Pressure Regulator - Crankcase vent with catch can - MSD Digital Programmable Ignition (6AL) with Blaster 2 Coil and 10MM spark plug wires and NGK plugs. - MegaSquirt ECU now controls the fuel. If you are not familiar with Megasquirt, it is not a "hard-coded" chip. You can plug in your laptop to the ECU to adjust the settings. The software you need on your computer is called MegaTune (the software is freely available for download online) - Innovate LC-1 Digital Wideband Controller O2 sensor, gauge in dash and also feeds the megasquirt with AFR information. - Cold air intake with K&N filter. - MSA header and 2.5" exhaust - Optimia Red Top gel battery SUSPENSION - Tokiko Illumina 5-way adjustable shocks and springs. Springs are uncut (you can trim them if you want a lower ride height) - Suspension Techniques Swaybar set (1" front, 7/8" rear) - Moog tie rod ends and ball joints - Energy Suspension bushings - full kit installed, even the notorious rear control arm bushings. - Sport Max 002 aluminum wheels and 225/50R-16 Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires (90% life, no burnouts or drifting) BODY - Meticulously prepped, primed, and painted using Summit Racing Acrylic Urethane Paint. Nearly everything was disassembled and removed from unibody for paint, so coverage inside and out is 100% uniform. Please understand this was not meant to be a "show-quality" paint job with 5 coats of clear - it was painted with the intent of giving the car another 20 years of protection from the elements and, being a track car, having a paint job that is easy to touch up. If you want a show quality shine you will need to add more clear coats and color sand it. - Handmade fiberglass hatch and hood. Both are pin-on style (no hinges) for maximum weight savings. Hatch features lexan window. Hood still needs to be prepped and painted. Hood features handmade aluminum louvers that will need to be riveted on once the hood is painted. - The car comes with 2 air dams and 1 spoiler. The air dams are both Motorsport auto, one is the "Type 3" and the other is the "BRE style". Type 3 (shown in pics) is more track style. The BRE style is much more classic and follows the natural body lines of the car. Both air dams need to be painted. The spoiler is a never installed BRE Victory. The spoiler has been painted black to match the door handles and taillight frames. - Door latches (not shown in pics) are painted black. - Door windows and winding mechanisms removed - 3/4 windows still need to be cut from lexan (to match hatch window) and mounted. I have the lexan to do it. - IO Port Racing tow straps front and back. These are securely mounted to frame and will not bust if you ever need to get pulled out of gravel trap. - Side turn signals and antenna have been shaved off. - No more sealed beam headlights. New headlights have with modern bulb style which are much brighter INTERIOR - 100% of the wiring in this car is NEW. - Old dash was removed and this new one was built with aluminum and brushed lexan. The dash no longer has a VIN plate, but the VIN is also stamped on the firewall near the brake booster. The VIN matches the title. - Autometer Sport Comp gauges and electrical senders. - Turn signal switch can be quickly removed while at the track. - Cutoff switch and toggles for IGN, fuel, accessories, and lights. Two extra switches installed but not currently in use. - Corbeau FX1 Pro seats. - Fire extinguisher securely mounted between seats. - Grant leather wrapped steering wheel. WHATS LEFT? - prep/paint fiberglass or stock hood (car comes with both). Fiberglass hood also still needs light fiberglassing work on the nose to keep it from flexing at high speed - engine/engine bay still unpainted. I was planning an engine swap so never got to that step. - connect turn signal and horn (the wiring is already there for signals, just needs the flasher wired in and turn signal stalk bolted back on) - seats are solid mounted with 3/16" angle iron and grade 8 bolts as low to floorboard as possible for maximum headroom with helmet on. If you aren't 5' 10" +/- 2 inches, you will probably need to make new brackets to reposition the seat. They also make sliders that fit these seats but those are going to bring the seat up higher. - install outside door handles - Install weather seal on hatch to stop exhaust fumes from coming into car. Installing the spoiler will help this too. Note: There is not an exhaust leak, its just the aerodynamics of the car that causes exhaust from muffler to circle back up the hatch. - paint and install whichever air dam you want to use. - There is some rust on this one... a 1 foot section of frame rails in front of each seat (where the mats go). I would recommend strengthening/replacing these IF you plan to install a cage. The floorboards had some rust too but those have already been patched. There is also a 2" rust hole on the front passenger strut tower where the fusible links used to be mounted. It's an easily accessible spot if you wanted to fix it. These are the only spots on the car with rust. - Right now there is no switch to go in-between high and low beams. Currently only low beams are set up. The wiring is there for high beams, but the switch is not. This is a great car for cruising around town or track days. I haven't weighed it, but it is MUCH lighter than stock due to all the deletes and upgrades, which makes it handle well and is pretty quick for the few serious engine mods that it has. The car starts up right away and does not leak/burn any fluids. I haven't driven it much since I finished it, a conservative estimate is 300 miles since putting it all together after paint in October 2010. However, I have put it through it's paces and also drove it about 35 miles to my new house when I moved with no issues. Also, I have a truck and trailer and can transport the car, additional motor, engine hoist, and the other extras up to 250 miles (from 77381) for $2.20/mile (calculated using one-way distance). You would still need to come here to make final payment, transfer title, etc in person, but just thought I'd throw that out there in case it helps. All parts were purchased NEW from Summit, Advance Auto Parts, Motorsport Auto, and a few others. I have most of these receipts in my email and can forward them if necessary. BONUS: The car also comes with a turbo engine (L28ET) from an 81 (or 83, I cant remember) 280ZX, which is the F54 block and P90 head (not the P90A with hydraulic lifters). I will also give you the engine hoist that the engine currently hangs on and a rolling engine stand as I will no longer have use for these and need the space cleared up. The engine has never been opened up since I pulled it, and will need to be rebuilt. Car also comes with stock hood, and unused leftover paints which have been stored appropriately so they should still be good. 240z 260z 280z 280zx 240 260 280 z zx datsun nissan classic On Feb-26-12 at 22:27:02 PST, seller added the following information:** Sorry, no buyers with less than 10 transactions and 90% positive feedback rating **On Feb-28-12 at 07:57:10 PST, seller added the following information:If you DO NOT have any feedback history, please message me before bidding so that I know you are a real person!
