Vehicle Detail

I purchased this ‘69 AMX in 1996 and I am its third owner. The original owner purchased this AMX from our AMC dealership in Orchard Park, NY. The car was repainted in 1977 by a second owner and it has always been stored inside during the winter months. It is commonly known as my “fourth child”. It had 52,700 original miles when I purchased it. The mileage as of this date is 65,444.9 and I believe this to be the actual mileage. I have an original Owner’s Manual and a Service Specification Manual. This AMX is a turn-key car, but not a “mint” show car; however, it would not take much to get it there. I do exhibit it in local shows twice a year. It is a “daily driver” and you can drive it and do nothing to it, if that is what you wish. There are improvements that can be made to it; the weather-stripping is starting to dry out and it could be replaced. Also, there are several very small areas that could be touched up with paint. Keep in mind though; this is not a project car. The paint is Metallic Blue with applied vinyl silver stripes. The engine is a 390-cubic inch engine with a 4-speed manual transmission. The car has rally wheels, bucket seats and a deluxe “wood” steering wheel. Everything works, but the clock. There is no air-conditioning, power steering or power brakes. There is a spare tire, but the original set with jack and wrench are gone. Two very small areas of rust can be found, but nothing that screams “paint me now”. The only body damage that I am aware of is from someone slightly hitting me from behind at a red light. The rear bumper was pushed slightly. This is really not very noticeable. The top of the hood has a slight portion of the silver stripping that is not perfect when it was applied. Photo shows this small area. This car was driven by me several times to the Watkins Glen New York Race Track (300+miles) for the annual “Vintage Car Show” weekend. The engine runs quite well. Due to health issues from an automobile accident that nearly killed me in 2008 I find that I do not drive my AMX all that much and I realize that it’s time to sell it. I average about 30-miles per year and I am not healthy enough to drive it like I use to. It is a thrilling, fun car to drive. Ask questions. I will send additional photos if interested. Bidder note- This AMX is being advertised elsewhere and it may be withdrawn from auction if an acceptable bid is reached. On Feb-25-12 at 12:17:59 PST, seller added the following information: UPDATE: The car has power brakes; it has rear positraction and its color was always Regatta Blue (P65). The engine is original too! There never was air conditioning- someone must have put in the dash with those vents just for the "look". And yes, a girl owns, loves and maintains this car!!! Decided to sell due to health issues. Contact me at AMX-69@hotmail.com for additional photos. On Feb-25-12 at 21:22:11 PST, seller added the following information: The air vents, without air conditioning, was an option called Command Air. Outside air is directed through the vents via the fan.
