Vehicle Detail

1978 Ford Thunderbird Diamond Jubilee Edition, 400cid, 30,085 original miles. Extremely clean and straight unrestored collector, in near perfect condition, obvoiusly babied and pampered it's whole life. Has all the options Ford had availible, Diamond Blue Met. paint, color matched padded vinyl roof and bodyside/bumper moldings and wheels, also has the premium biscuit luxury cloth seats, power sunroof, factory tach/full guages, etc. Sold new in Alberta, Canada, still has the original owner's name plate on the dash, and her initials hand pinstriped on the doors. As it was a Canadian car, it does still have the Km/hr speedo, reads 48606 km, (equals just over 30k mi) could be changed easily enough, but I wanted to preserve the authenticity of the car, as it has the original owner's warranty card, temp. registration to drive it home when it was new, and the temp tag to bring it into WI in 04', 2 owner's before me. Runs and drives perfect, no squeaks or rattles, smooth as silk. A/C has been converted to 134a, and works great, all power acc. work great. Interior is mint...perfect seats, dash, carpet, intrument panel, everything is absoulutly perfect, not one issue, no fading, cracking, or wear evident. Exterior is 100% rust and dent free, razor straight body still wearing the original paint. No rips in the top, glass is all perfect, bumpers perfect. doors and rockers perfect. With that said, I can honestly say I would call this car #1 unrestored condition, or maybe #2 condition next to a restored one...it's that clean. Paint does have a few tiny rock chips, pinstripes have started to rub off in places (mainly hood ) from years of polishing I'm sure. NO RUST, but did have a flake (quarter sized) right above the dr. rear red marker, above the trim, that has been touched up, hardly noticable unless you were at a show. Pins are painted on, would be fairly easy to have a shop polish them off, and brush them back on (and put you're initials on the door..) Top vinyl has just a very few light/dark spots (I'm literally comparing these tiny flaws to brand new in 78', not the famous "real good for it's age"...hate that saying..) Carpet in the trunk is clean enough to sleep on! Underside is straight as an arrow, perfect shape there, gas tank still has 80% of the factory zinc coating on it, 30% of the original paint is still showing under there! The rest has a very light coat of fine "rust-dust" , not all undercoated like most to hide corrosion (had the "Ford Duraguard" system from the factory, still wears the decal on the pass. window..) Motor/eng. bay is clean and original, new brake master cyl, fuel filter, etc, but clean and untouched, no leaks, smoke or odd noises. Does have newer dual exhaust (not loud, just throaty) and new white letter Cooper Cobra rubber, the ONLY 2 things that are not stock. I also have the original dealer's brochure, has this exact car on the 1st page...add the tires and this car could be the one in the layout. No dents or dings...if there is a ding somewhere It's so tiny that you'd find worse on a brand new car on the lot...Not saying that original paint does not have some thin spots, and there are a few tiny scratches in the fneder molding trim (unnoticable, but there) it has had alot of waxing over the years, but again I'm comparing it to 100% perfect the day it rolled off the line...still looks like a showroom car except for the pinstripes. Clear WI title. So, in summary, runs and drives excellent, everything mechanical works excellent. Interior is perfect, no exceptions. Exterior is 100% rust and dent free, original paint is shiny and smooth, but does have very few blemishes, not from damage or abuse, just age...still looks like a show car though (with pinstripes touched up..) Hope I did not go on too long, just wanted to be very clear about the condition of this beautiful classic collector, as I have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in collector cars, and I'm here to tell you this car is nothing short of unbelievably exceptional... Take a look, ask me any questions, THANKS!!!
