Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE 1971 Datsun 521 Not perfect, but probably the NICEST original 521 you’ll come across. 521’s in this condition are SUPER RARE to find. I will try to do my best to document and describe my 521, with many pics and as much as I know about it. Original owner before me…I haven’t had it long…wish I had the time for a classic, such as this Japanese mini truck…BUT, I have to face reality after our second child has come along.I would LOVE to keep for future projects w/ my sons…but it will be YEARS before that could happen and I don’t have the time to take care of it like a 41 year old vehicle needs. I try to drive it once a week. I am pretty sure EVERYTHING works. Radio, wipers, heat/defrost, windshield washer (w/ original bag!), lights/brights/blinkers/hazards, extra power supply plug. No cracks in glass. No oil or fluid leaks. Always garaged. Not much rust at all! Floors are good…no holes, a bit of surface rust that was sprayed. SOLID. Not PERFECT, but, pretty darn close! A little bit of paint on top of bed absent w/ surface rust…you can touch up…or if you'd like use a roll-on bedliner, I wouldn’t do anything…the bed is TOO nice. I’ll try to take LOTS of pics. Under side of hood is a bit ugly (left side)…I guess a rust stop chemical was used on some surface rust?? The 2 corners of hood closest to the windshield have a little dimples…looks as though the hood was misaligned at one time and closed (I’ll try to get good pics)…hard to really see…could be easily put back to shape…just trying to mention EVERYTHING. Runs good, shifts good…could probably use a new rubber bushing in the shift assembly…easy, cheap fix, I don’t have time. -Disc brakes in front_all new components: Dual reservoir Custom made disc kit. Wilwood proportioning valve. New lines. New pads. (Will also include orginal dront drum brakes and all hardware) -New Weber 32/26 manual choke carb. -New tires (small white wall). -Restored gas tank_inside and out w/ new filler neck hose. -All new rubber fuel lines. -New wheel bearings. -New seat cover -86,000 miles (I believe this to be correct considering the shape this 521 is in!) -New alternator -New fuel pump -New shocks -New shifter knob. -Original jack/stand -Nice mud flaps. -NICE original flooring. -NICE original paint (LOVE this color!!) A few things I know need attention, but I no longer have time: -Rear drum brakes need adjusted to finish brake job…It stops fine right now, but, not how I’d like it to. -I was planning to drain the differential/ tranny and coolant fluid and put new in…since I didn’t have records of the last time that was done…never got to it…so, I’d do that next. -One mirror (passenger) is not included.-Antennae broken off (easy fix). -Rear “bumperettes” not included…get on ebay for $100 new I believe. LOTS of pics:/ SHIPPING If you prefer to arrange for your new vehicle to be shipped, eBay recommends Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS). Give them a call today at 800.826.1083 for a free quote.
