1977 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II 1977 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SHADOW II Description Vin: SRF32498 Lic: PHS0289 "No Reserve" Odometer reads approx. 2,600 miles since complete engine rebuild at 174,000 Four door sedan, automatic transmission, air conditioning, power steering, Blaupunkt radio cassette, left hand drive, standard wheelbase. Manufactured from 1977 to 1980, the Silver Shadow II is a major update from the Silver Shadow, introducing disc brakes and independent rear suspension. The engine is a 189 hp 6.75 Liter V8 coupled to a Turbo Hydromatic 400 transmission. The car features a high-pressure hydraulic system licensed from Citroen with dual-circuit braking and hydraulic self-leveling suspension for the famed Rolls Royce ride quality. The 1977 features rack and pinion steering and modifications to the front suspension to improve handling markedly. This Silver Shadow is a 2-owner car purchased by my father in July 1985. A "no-smoking" car, it has always been kept in a garage and the car has never been in an accident. The body paintwork shows some minor chipping and and a few scratches, but is otherwise in good shape. The interior is burgundy cashmere rather than the standard leather seats. The interior is in very good shape with some wear on the sheepskin floor covers and some cracking of the clear coat finish on the hand worked wood. The top of the dash is in perfect condition showing no signs of cracking or sun damage. The trunk interior is in fine condition as well. Exterior paint is a unique and sophisticated tone cabernet/grey reisling with burgundy interior. The engine was rebuilt in 2001 at 174,000 miles. Since then the car has only been driven a little over 2600 miles. The hydraulic braking/suspension system needs work, estimated by Viking MotorSports to run approximately $5550 to repair. The engine sounds as though there is a damaged pistion. There is also an exhaust leak, probably as a result of the car sitting so long and not being driven. The battery is brand new and the tires are in excellent shape. This car can be viewed at Viking MotorSports in Costa Mesa CA, an independent Lotus/Jaguar/Rolls Royce shop. Original Leather Bound Owner's manual and digital copy of shop service manuals are included. See below for recent repair history. Earlier history also available.
