Vehicle Detail
1997 VW Golf GTI You are bidding on a 1997 VW Golf GTI that is in good overall condition. The interior is in great condition for a vehicle of this age. The driver side seat left bolster's fabric is coming apart which is a common problem on VW's. Nothing an interior repair can't fix or even a seat cover. The headliner is a little dirty and could use some cleaning and the sliding sunshade for the sunroof was falling and adhesive was used to put it back in place. The factory radio will be installed back in the car and the aftermarket radio is NOT being sold with the car. The hatch has been updated to a hatch where the 3rd brake light is built into the rear upper spoiler rather than the glass. The body needs a little work but is good condition. There are a couple of dings as you can see from the pics. The clear coat is coming off in a couple of places on the driver side door and the top of the driver fender. I was hit by a driver making a u-turn in the middle of the road and her insurance company refused to fix the damage to the bumper and fender. I would recommend a new fender because the dent is on a body line and the contour near the driver headlight is out of shape. The light in the bumper is gone in the pics but will be fixed this weekend. Just below the driver side quarter glass is a rust area that's bubbling under the paint but that should be a relatively easy fix. The lock cylinder in the passenger side door handle needs to be reconnected to the locking mechanism inside the door. Not sure what parts are need to make that happen but I would guess a new/used handle may solve that. The door handle is still fully-functional despite not being able to manually lock and unlock the passenger side door by key. The power lock still works as it should. A gasket is needed for the roof-mounted antenna....very simple and quick. Car has been well-maintained and is in excellent running and driving condition and still very quick. Car was just given a tune-up about 5000 miles ago consisting of wires, cap, rotor, and plugs. The coil has been replaced within the last 7000 miles. Below is a list of the slight mods and work that has been done over the last 6 months. Techtonics Tuning catback exhaust system Upgrade to 17" wheels and 205/40/17 tires from the factory 14" wheels Cold-air intake Vogtland lowering springs for a nice 1.4" drop on the front and rear Stagg shocks and struts New, front are rear brake pads and cross-drilled/slotted rotors New battery Valve cover gasket Starter Shifter bushings Ball joints Control arms and bushings Upgraded module for keyless entry and 2 remotes I have plenty of service records from the previous owner. I just need to find where I put them since I moved. Car has all the original owner's manuals, as well as, including the radio code for the factory radio. This car was my daily driver for just about the last 2 years. I just bought a new car and moved closer to work so I really have no need to hold onto this anymore. This car is being sold AS-IS and comes with NO warranty. I've listed everything that I am aware of that is a concern for repair but I'm not a mechanic. Car will only be available for pick-up at my residence or job. I will NOT ship the car nor pay for shipping unless you make arrangements to do so on your own. If you have questions, please message me and I'll do my best to answer them. I also have some more pics. If you want to message me your email address then I'll send them to you. Good luck and happy bidding!!!
