The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, which were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, which both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, it married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning and automatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, the Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals, 1971 is said by some to be the best year, and these Blazers were only produced from 1969 to early 1972... It’s in great condition throughout! All the mechanics work properly, looks great and is fun to drive! 2012 now may be the time to pick up a '71 Blazer Convertible, while they remain at "bargain" prices, quoted from the Price Trend Analysis. This very rare Blazer CST convertible is in great condition everywhere you look. Total production was only 17,220 for the ‘71 K-5 Blazer CST Convertible model year and is a very rare to find one for sale, let alone one that is in the condition this one is. The best part it is covered in the correct factory color of Bright White with White top and factory original Black interior. This Blazer has factory gauges including a tach, and am/fm radio, tilt wheel and everything works great with the exception of the gas gauge. This Blazer came with the upgraded CST option that was more of a luxury 4x4 with embossed seats and door panels and exterior chrome trim with wood grain, this truck also came with factory air conditioning but the compressor and other components are missing. The engine bay is highly detailed, the paint is very nice as is every piece of chrome and stainless. Turn over the ZZ3 Target 350ci V-8 engine with aluminum heads and intake, this truck runs strong and a nice rumble from the dual exhausts with headers hits a sweet tune. Driving it, you will appreciate the ride and handling characteristics. The optional 3-speed auto transmission shifts smoothly, the brakes stop the car quickly and securely. It’s is a blast to drive! The body is in very nice condition. The metal is clean and straight with no signs of damage. The paint is smooth and reflects everything in sight. The chrome is in very nice condition overall, all the glass is in great shape with no chips or cracks. The Raised white letter radials are also new and add to the look. The underside is solid with no evidence of rot. All the mechanical components are in good repair.
