Vehicle Detail
1988 Dodge Ram Charger 4x4 w/ Plow We are selling the Dodge because it is no longer needed. We bought it with 78,000 original miles on it about 2 1/2 years ago and have rarely used it. Since my house got flooded out (and is empty now) and we closed down the warehouse portion of the business, we don't have anything that needs to be plowed anymore. We spent over $4000 repairing the truck when we first got it and then bought the plow unit for it. I believe that this plow was the first one ever on this truck. We might have plowed 20 times with the truck, and that is a stretch. Below you will find all the work (at least that I can remember) that has been done on the truck. Most of the work was done right when we purchased it. New brakes - All lines from master cylinder down, calipers, wheel cylinders, hoses, pads and shoes.New Monroe Heavy Duty shocks all around2500lb helper springs in the front (so it sat level with the plow up)New fuel lines front to backNew fuel pump and gas tank strapsNew water pump New plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and coilNew IAC (Idle Air Control) and TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)New oil pressure sending unitNew headlights, dash lights and plow lightsAdded rear defrost (just have to hook up wires)New belts, hoses and air cleanerThe starter, alternator, and master cylinder appear to have been replaced shortly before we bought itNew battery (Exide NASCAR Extreme 850CCA(?))New battery cables and plow wiringPassed NYS inspection is January The truck also has remote start (never worked and I never messed with it), an Alpine CD player, a custom made (by me) remote plow control (dash mounted controls seemed ridiculous), easily enable / disable plow lights, rear hatch vent, and a center console. I'm sure there's stuff I'm forgetting to list. All the gauges work in the truck, as do all the accessories that I can think of. It starts and runs great and gets horrible mileage (about 10-12 is the best I ever got). The transmission and engine are solid. The frame is in very good shape for the year, there is no rot that I can see (only surface rust). Now the problems: the rocker panels are shot and the paint is ugly at best (clear coat gone, sunspots, rust). My employee hit a deer and bent the front bumper and cracked the headlight surround. Then he managed to back into our dumpster and bend the back bumper and crack the taillight lens. He's a little bit special. But I digress. The interior is in good condition, relative to the year of the truck, except for the head liner (sagging badly) and cargo area plastics (cracked from hauling stuff). It will be cleaned out when you pick it up. My employee was supposed to clean it out last week, but between not doing anything and doing nothing, he ran out of time. The exhaust is gone from the cat back (it's still remarkably quiet) and the kick-down lever on the transmission is half rusted away and not connected to the rod assembly from the gas pedal. This makes the truck shift into third at about 25 MPH, making acceleration hideous. I normally manually shift from second to third, and that makes it much better. I have a mechanic that said it's an easy problem to fix, he just has to weld a piece onto the arm, but I never got around to getting the truck over to him. The steering box is pretty well worn, making the steering loose, but the front end is very tight. I had two different mechanics check the ball joints and tie rods and they are fine. The only other problem is that the windshield is scratched. I think someone used a screwdriver to clear the ice once upon a time. The only time it gets really annoying is when the sun is on a direct 45 degree angle in your eyes. Other than that I hardly notice it any more. The plow is in very good condition. It is very straight, the cutting edge is good, very little rust, one new spring in the middle, and has been flushed completely and filled with Myers Blue Plow Fluid. The pump is strong and has no problem lifting and turning the plow. I'm also throwing in the Fisher 2-bulb 2' amber light bar for the roof - I bought it new in 2004 for another truck and it was barely ever used and works perfectly. I think it cost $300. The tires are in good condition and are a matched set. They are (I'm pretty sure) 31x10.50x15's. The 4WD works perfectly with no issues. The transmission doesn't slip or do anything else it shouldn't do. The truck has an electronic brake controller, but no hitch - I think the previous owner decided to keep it. That is the best of my knowledge on the truck, but of course it is being sold as-is with no warranties. If you plan on driving the truck home, you'll need to keep the plow blade as low as possible - it gets hot going 65 with the plow all the way up. For bids, a 50% non-refundable deposit is due at the end of the auction and the balance within seven days. I'd prefer cash or cashier's check but PayPal will be OK for the deposit. The truck will need to be picked up by the end of February or very early March. I will be taking it off the road shortly (probably guaranteeing a 3' snow fall). For Buy It Now, full payment is required through PayPal. The reserve is set at $1200 to give everyone a chance at the BIN price. Bid to win and bid high! I have to cover the mortgage on the house I can't live in. Don't bid if you don't have the money to pay. If you do I will send a bunch of homeless people to occupy your front yard. Forever.
