Vehicle Detail
This Vehicle is listed with NO RESERVE. Highest bid owns the car, please do not bid if you are not prepared to own this vehicle! Up for sale is a 1992 Ford Taurus SHO with the 225 HP Yamaha V6, and 5-speed manual transmission. This is my daily driver, but I am switching it with another, slower car I have been working on for a bit, plus I had run up a bunch of tickets in this car, so it is time to sell it. I was using this as a winter car, it runs great, is plenty quick, and is a great highway cruiser. It has a mismatched interior from another SHO, so it has gray seats and door cards, and tan everything else. This was done because the gray seats are in great condition, and the original door cards come with the car. Also as a option on how he liked the car to look, the PO removed the two small inner spacer lights from the front end on either side of the emblem. I have a set you can install, and one headlight assembly, but it really comes down to personal preference, as these lights are decorative and nonfunctional. Pros- -There are TONS of new parts on it, it has new brakes, new shocks, new fuel filter, new air filter, BRAND NEW expensive snow tires (not even 1000 miles on them) with a lifetime replacement package, new front wheel bearings, lower ball joints, tons of little parts, too many other little things to name. The PO tells me he installed a new clutch in the last year. - I have the original paperwork, the car has spent its entire life in Rhode Island, and I am the fourth owner, third owner was a Ford tech, and SHO fanatic. -There is a lot of factory paperwork and spare parts that will come with the car, spare lights, a complete spare front and rear bumper, original door skins, ect. - I just recently had an alignment done before putting the new tires on it, so it tracks nice and straight. - Its completely reliable, starts in all weather, sounds great with good mufflers and has a nice throaty note, sounds great, very gratifying to cycle through the gears. - This was a top of the line vehicle for Ford back in the early 90s, so it is loaded with features, power everything, factory CD player as well as cassette, and extremely comfortable power captains chairs. Cons- This is a 20 year old car, so keep that in mind, there are little things here and there that are broken that I will probably miss in this description, but I will try to list everything that I know to be wrong with the car. Basically there are a bunch of little annoying things that can be fairly easy fixes, but do not affect daily use of the vehicle. -Cruise control is spotty, sometimes works, but more often not -parking brake cable needs to be replaced or adjusted. -Fuel door cable is stretched, and does not fully retract the lock to pop the fuel door. You have to pop the trunk and use the door opening loop from in the trunk to open the fuel door. Sounds like a pain, but its proven to not really be that bad. Might be able to repair this by taking up some slack in the fuel door cable, or making an adjustment somewhere on the lever under the driver seat. -There are rust spots starting on the hood, and trunk, just above the rear tire on the passenger side, and by far the worst is some rust in the driver side rocker. Underneath, it is actually very solid with negligible additional rust, The driver rear rocker and the other places I mentioned are the main places where the car is rusting. There are numerous nicks and scratches, and the clearcoat is peeling on the roof. - There are two lights on the dash, one is an airbag fault code, and the other is an ABS light (which may be a misaligned sensor or something since it just had front calipers and brakes done, but it is unknown at this point for sure) -the door key is missing, I have been using the external key pad which works to unlock the driver door, all the doors, or the trunk selectively, and is a great feature, but the actual key needs to be replaced. This is a fairly simple thing to have a locksmith take care of, or see if ford can recut it for you. -Im pretty sure the driver side strut bearing is starting to make a little noise, not a safety issue, but something to eventually take care of, makes a little noise when turning. - I have been told by the PO that this car received its 60K service on schedule, but since its at 120K, its getting to be that time again, I would consider it worth doing Overall, jump in and drive it to where you want to go. I was taking this thing on 500+ mile ski and business trips regularly, and will be continuing to drive it during the auction. The car has a Rhode Island registration, so no titles are issued after 10 years. If you are out of state and buy this car, I will provide you with a RI statement of title law, which serves as a title for states which require it. Please feel free to ask me any questions about this car, it is inspected through 2013 in RI if you are a local buyer..
