1971 BMW 2800 CS. This car has a silver exterior and a blue leather interior. I believe this car has its original paint because I could not find any overspray paint. The engine starts right up however it does not run smoothly when driven. The engine seems to have a narrow power range. I am not sure if it just needs a full tune-up or if some engine work is required. This BMW has Weber carburetors. It shifts through all 4 speeds including reverse. I only tested the driver’s window and it got stuck down half way so I am not willing to risk testing the other windows. I temporarily hooked up the driver’s window directly to the battery to roll it up and then disconnected the electric motor. The front windshield has a crack in it. The other known electrical issue is the signal lights do not work. I have only driven this car through downtown Tucson Arizona and have concluded it needs some special care to return it to its glory days. I have found a small section of rust under the front passenger floor that is about 4" X 8" and also under the driver’s side floor under the gas pedal that is about 2" X 4" in size (please see pictures). There is also a small rust hole in the spare tire well. There is a little bit of bubbling around the front windshield (please see pictures). The odometer reads under 49,000 miles but I think the car has turned over once. The perfect restoration would include new paint, either a complete tune-up or possible engine work, some interior work and some body work for the rust patches. The price should make this a fun investment for the right person who would like to restore this car to the driver car it once was. Unfortunately I found a 1971 BMW 2002 two months after I bought this car and have decided to restore the 1971 BMW 2002 so that I can vintage race, however since I cannot afford to restore both of these BMW's I have to sell this 1971 BMW 2800 CS. This 1971 BMW 2800 CS is being stored at my father's house in Tucson Arizona. Since my father is 75 years old, I do not want to burden him with selling this car except to allow any SERIOUS buyer who wants to look at the car in person and start up the engine in the driveway to hear the engine run. Since I live 30 miles East of Seattle Washington, I cannot accommodate any test drives. My father is willing to assist a car transporter to pickup this BMW in his gated community for the buyer. Of course, all transport costs would have to be paid by buyer. Happy Bidding ! ! !
