Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a rare 1957 GMC 100 NAPCO factory 4x4, ½ ton, long bed, step side, small rear window. This truck came from the factory as a NAPCO, not from the dealership. I included a picture of the VIN plate which shows the GVW to be 5600. All regular ½ ton trucks had a GVW of 5000, adding the 4x4 front axel raised the GVW to 5600. This is the easiest way to tell if the truck was built as a NAPCO from the factory or converted at the dealership. This truck has the original 4 speed (granny gear), original transfer case, original front and rear axels, the motor has been swapped and it now has what I believe to be a 327 Chevy, with an Edelebrock intake and carb. It has a duel exhaust with glass packs. The truck runs great and could be used as a daily driver with no problems. The engine doesn’t smoke or knock and always starts. It will drive at 60 no problem. The trans shifts fine and the brakes work great. The hubs work freely and will lock and unlock by hand. The transfer case works fine as well. The body does have some rust in the typical spots, I have included pics of all the areas that would need attention if you were to restore it. The rust is can easily be replaced with patch panels that you could buy brand new. This is a California truck and has been since new, so the rust is not East coast rust, its California rust, there is a difference! There is no salt on the roads here and it doesn’t rain very much. The body is straight, there are a couple dings but no dents. The top of the bail rails are very straight. The bed floor has a steel plate in it. The paint is not original, and it is not primer, but old paint. The original color was teal. The only cracked glass is the drivers door glass and I have a good replacement for it that will be included. In the pics you’ll see that there is no window regulator on the pass side and the glass is cracked, but since I took the pics I have installed a regulator and replaced the side glass. So both doors/windows are fully functional now. The front and rear glass are in good shape as well. All the weather-stripping is older with some cracks. It is useable as a daily driver. The interior is pretty bare bones, what you see is what you get. The steering wheel is new. The only things that don’t work are the horn and gas gauge. Everything else works fine, blinkers, lights ect. The old spotlight works as well. I do have the door panels. The rims are original 16x4, 6 lug and have been powder coated black . The tires are about 10 months old and have a few miles on them and still look great. They are bias ply Power King Premium Traction 7.50x16. The tires will accept snow studs if you need. I posted this truck on eBay last year and the response was absolutely overwhelming. I ended up selling the truck and removed it from eBay before the auction was over. I recently bought it back from the same person. I received many emails of people who were bummed out because they didn’t get to buy it...here's your chance. These truck don’t come around very often and when they do, they are usually modified or not real NAPCOs, and do not have the right look…..this one does. I’ve listed several NAPCO trucks on Ebay……all of them were sold before the auction was over. The last time I listed this truck, it sold the same day. My advise to anyone interested in this truck is to contact me with an offer. I will not give out the reserve. This truck is not for everyone and is not perfect. It’s an old, noisy, 4x4, and it drives like one. Right now it is a working ranch truck that is titled with current tags. Drive it as is or restore, (I love this truck as is). The 1963 black Ca plates are the plates issued on the title. I have the original key. Feel free to call or text anytime with questions 559-936-9253. The truck is located in Woodlake Ca, the zip is 93286. I can transport the truck for a fee.
