1975 Honda XL 250- Vintage Original Storage Find-Classic but Practical -Legendary 4 stroke -Original Blue Plate -Runs Strong-Low MilesLOW RESERVEBIDDING STARTING AT .99 CENTS! Do not miss out on this rare oppurtunity to own this exceptional 1975 Honda XL 250, which is up for auction and set at a LOW reserve. This bike was recovered from a Northern California estate sale and has only seen 11,000 miles of use in it's long 36 year lifetime. A chance to own a bike of this age and in this kind of condition does not come around very often. The 1975 XL 250 was the beginning of something special for Honda. The XL 250 model line put big bore 4 strokes on the map and sparked a craze which is still holding strong today. In a time when Gerald Ford was president and 2 stroke engines were customary, the 250cc 4 valve cylinder was revolutionary. The Honda XL 250 claims the title of the first modern 4 stroke dual purpose motorcycle as well as the first mass produced 4 valve cylinder engine. Because of this historic feat these classic XL's have become quite collectable. Cosmetically this vintage thumper is in wonderful condition. From the 2 tone Excel black and Tahitian red gas tank down to the alluminum wheels the original patina is absolutely gorgeous. The front shocks and wheels are in great condition along with the back there is no oxidation of the aluminum. The original paint on the gas tank is beautiful with no scratches or peeling paint. It shines like it did in the mid 70's. There is 2 minor dings on the tank that do not take away from it's beauty. The aluminum on the engine is also in great shape with a few minor oxidation areas. It is a rare find to a XL250 with the side cover, this is one of those rare finds with a side cover that is in fine condition. Along with the side cover this bike has all it's mirrors and turn signals no part is missing. The seat is in great shape with no rips or tears and will sit two people comfortably. Mechanically this bike matches the way it looks. There is no issues with the bike mechanically. It starts up with ease and idles right away. Once the bike is warmed up it is a blast to ride. It performs how a 1975 XL 250 should, there is no engine whines or clunking. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly with out hesitation or slipping. The bike had been sitting for some time so the carb has been cleaned out as well as a fresh battery. I have not gone through the electrical but it all works fine there are times were the rear light and turn signals don't work probably due to a loose wire. The suspension is great shape which gives the rider a smooth ride. The tires are in good shape the rear tire is brand new and the front is fair but should be replaced before a long ride. Whether your putting around town or tackling the back country this classic dual purpose motorbike is in great shape both mechanically and cosmetically. What more could you ask for then to have a classic motorcycle that is fully function and practical.
