Vehicle Detail
Barn find! 1955 chevrolet 2 door hardtop.Very solid for its age. I am told by the prior owner that it is a 327 smallblock chevy, 4 speed Muncie transmission. The car is not running at this time. I have heard and drove this car about 3 years ago when it was pulled from a barn. It had been sitting since 1990. A friend of mine bought it and we put a battery in it and gas and it ran well and we drove it around for an afternoon, the brakes were very weak then. He had plans to restore it however they have fallen through.I bought the car from him to save it, and find someone who would like to restore it. The car is very solid, there are places where the paint is just plain gone, not rusted out at all still very solid. The only real rust is in the trunk pan and the panel between the trunk and rear bumber area. There is a pinhole at the rear window and a couple here and there but that is really it. And the car is very straight looking, the sides are not wavey and the roof is solid. This is a really solid car to restore. But it does need a complete resoration, All the weather stripping is dry rotted, body mount bushings are as well. There is no power sterring or power brakes. There is no title for it nor or there any keys. The ignition switch works without a key and the trunk lock is not there. The car will have to be towed as it is not street worthy. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. On Jan-09-12 at 04:55:45 PST, seller added the following information: This I am told is a sedan not a hardtop. And the car is availible to inspect. The vin is A55l 0800166. On Jan-14-12 at 14:10:57 PST, seller added the following information: I had an a chance to go through the barn that the car was in today and located a box of chrome trim. There is a good deal of trim in in the box. The piece that is missing on the passenger side was hanging in a rafter and got it as well. There isalso trim that looks like it goes under the side windows. The other pieces I am not sure where they go. I am not a 55 chevy expert. However I was told that all of the trim is for the 55, whether it is original to the car or from another 55. I was also told that the rear bumber may be found as well. If it is it WILL go with the car, but I cannot promise it yet as it is NOT in my hands as of yet.On Jan-14-12 at 14:32:29 PST, seller added the following information: The rear bumber just showed up on my doorstep. It will need rechoming but is all there with the bumber guards and the mounting brackets. And it will go with the car.
