1974 Chevy El Camino 454 cu.in. matching #s. Here is a, California, mostly original 1974 Chevrolet El Camino. This car is a type of barn find, it has been parked under a patio for a long while, last registered in 1993. It has the rare big block 454 option which is original to the car, matching #s. I would consider this car a winter project car, the paint seems mostly if not all original, any rust is surface or light scale only. The interior looks quite good and looks fairly original, the seat is either faded or has been recovered in the past.......the dash has some typical cracks (has a dash cover). We installed a new fuel filter, replaced the carburator with a rebuilt unit and new fuel pump. The car idles well, has good compression and stays running.....we drove the car in our parking lot and the car shifts through the gears forward and backwards. The car does not smoke when running, just a small puff in the morning...typical age on the Chevy valve stem seals. Also, we replaced the brake master cylinder, the car stops ok. Minimal oil leaks. Basically, we got the car running to a point that it can be moved around under its' own power, I do not consider the car road worthy yet. The tires hold air and are the same ones that have been on the car for a long time. Basically, this is a solid fun semi-muscle car/pick up that someone can enjoy on a budget. It has a clear California title (still has its' original California blue license plates) with no back fees due, and is exempt from smog requirements.
