1971 VW Sunroof Bus This is a project sunroof bus of my brothers that has moved out of state. Engine: The engine seems to run well. It starts easily and doesn’t smoke, but does have an exhaust leak, and the starter grinds sometimes. By the spots in the driveway, I can tell it drips a little oil. Transmission: I was told it was rebuilt, but I cant verify that. It goes into all the gears but I have only moved it around the driveway. The clutch doesn’t feel right to me, and the shifter is sloppy. Interior: As you can see by the pics, There is no interior except for the front seats. Both are in good condition. The floor is solid, but looks to have some patch panels welded in. Body: The body has some rust on the lower part of the drivers side. Also various rust spots around the bus. I have taken pics all I’ve seen. The front has body filler on it, along with the driver door. Im sure there may be more. Im assuming it hit something on the drivers front due to the bent drivers door step (see pic). The engine door doesn’t match and is missing the latch to hold it closed. All glass is in good condition with no cracks. The sunroof panel needs the hardware to keep it secured. Its bungee’d closed for now. The doors open and close easily. Steering: Steering seems tight, but I’ve only moved it from time to time . Brakes: Pedal seems squishy. I wouldn’t trust them without having the checked out. It does have some brake parts that come with it. Tires: It has 3 new tires on it. The 4th one needs replacing. This bus is not suitable to be driven anywhere. It needs to be looked at by a mechanic first. I am not a “car” guy, so if you’re able, PLEASE come look at this bus before you bid. Once you win it, I expect to be paid.
