Vehicle Detail
This is a 1977 Ford F-100 Ranger XLT V8 302ci truck in good condition for being 34 years old. It has been performance-enhanced by a previous owner and "can really scoot." I am least the fourth owner. Two years ago the engine was partially rebuilt by a previous owner, and includes new Edelbrock manifold, carburator, and valve covers. Also a new distributor cap and rotor, new plugs and wires. I have not removed the valve covers to see what else has been done, but I would suspect the pushrods, rocker arms, springs, etc. The windows have been tinted. The alternator is new as are the belts. I personally have replaced the battery, both battery and switch to starter cables, replaced the radiator hoses, the fuel filter, and the electronic control module (ECM) The radiator has been flushed and filled August 2010. I also replaced the ignition switch and door locks and hardware. The new wiper arms are replicas, as are the rubber on the pedals, interior light and other cosmetic fixes I made. All as original-looking as possible. The truck is otherwise very much in original condition. Even the hubcaps look original. As you can see from the pictures, the interior carpet is cleaned and most likely original. The stereo works sporadically but I believe its just a simple speaker wiring problem. I reupholstered the seat with a Mossy Oak cover and it looks sharp. The headliner sags a little but is in good shape for its age. The dash has one small crack (1/2") from sun exposure, but is overall in great shape. The glove box is missing but the door works fine. A replacement box and many other parts can be found at LMC truck online. Amazingly, the truck does not leak oil or any fluids. It is water-tight and the cab stays dry. The bed shows some surface rust but is still solid with no rust-through. The body is in fair shape, with all the worn paint and dents that come with a truck its age. The frame is straight and there's no evidence it's ever been in an accident, although the front bumper is bent, it seems to be limited to just the bumper - like it hit a fence pole or something. The windshield is badly cracked. There is no rear-view mirror as I believe there was a bed top on the back at some point. The tailgate is missing. I suspect the owner who rebuilt the engine was looking to shed weight and reduce drag and took it off. All the instruments work, and all the lights but the back-up lights work. There is a strong steel bumper on the back and a tow hitch. The wiring for towing has been cut off but could be replaced easily enough. The vehicle once had a/c but it has been removed. The heater works well. Mileage says 5957. This could be 105957 I don't know. I suspect this was a farm vehicle most of its life so that could be actual miles. I've only put 400 miles on it myself. I use it to haul junk to the county dump and make runs to the Home Depot. That said, I believe this is a pretty reliable truck. It's fun to drive and I get a lot of compliments from other vintage truck-lovers. I would feel comfortable driving it a good distance. Keep in mind, it is a 1977 truck, so your gas mileage will be poor by today's standards. I believe that's everything. To be honest I don't want to sell "grandpa truck" because it was a good find and is reliable, but I lost my job 11/11 and need the cash. Let me know if you have any questions.
