Vehicle Detail
1996 Lexus LX 450 (Land Cruiser FZJ80)Up for sale is my 1996 Lexus version of the FZJ80 Land Cruiser. This thing is a TANK! Solid Front Axle and Free-Floating Rear Axle coupled with an inline-6 engine and bomb-proof transmission and transfer case! This truck has spent it's entire life in the Gulf Coastal area of the Southeastern US. NEVER seen snow. NEVER been driven in mud - other than the occasional dirt road. NEVER abused offroad.First owner was a local coroporation with a very prominent owner that used it for his commute and to travel back and forth to his farm in Southern MS. Truck was purchased from and serviced by Lexus of Mobile by the original owner. Second owner was an engineer with Mississippi Power who babied this thing like no other. It was ONLY touched by Allen Toyota in Gulfport MS. I am the third owner and have only had it a few months. I sold a 2007 Land Cruiser to get a car with better economy and purchased this for a third vehicle for the family. My wife and I decided that this just isn't for us and we plan to sell it and our 2005 Solara Convertible (also listed on eBay) to purchase a 2004 Land Cruiser that we have already located. In the last 4 years, the truck has received new front seat leather and carpet throughout. The second owner purchased a Katskinz leather kit and had it locally installed. The carpet is OEM Toyota. Also installed was a Landtank Mass Airflow Sensor (about $250) to help boost the engine's ability to breath and produce more power. To upgrade the ride, a set of Old Man Emu 861/862 springs were installed along with the matching OME shocks and steering stabilizer. Auxillary power outlets were added in the cabin in leiu of the OEM ashtray so that you can charge your phone and your GPS at the same time! Also added were the Slee Offroad heavy duty headlight wiring harness, auxillary lighting harness, and rear light harness. The second owner also purchased some of the equipment for installing a second battery under the hood where the OEM windshield resovior typically resides. This is an option for the overseas models to provide the use of a second battery to power the ancillary equipment and provide redundancy when treking across the Sahara or exploring the Outback. In the last two years, the truck has been gone through with new front brake pads and rotors ($800 at Allen Toyota). Also by Allen Toyota, a complete top-end rebuild was performed on the head and engine that included a new Head Gasket, resurfacing the head, new valve guides/seals, new valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, new distributor, new rotor, ALL new hoses (including the Pesky Heater Hose under the intake manifold), ALL new belts, and a new Radiator. This was all completed at the Toyota Dealer using Toyota Parts and Expert Master Technician Labor. The receipt for this was over $2400 and will be provided to the new owner as proof of the work. Current mileage on the truck is right at 236,000, and the engine rebuild was completed at just under 233,000.In the last few months that I've owned the truck, I have cleaned the throttle body and MAF, changed the oil over to Mobil Delvac 15W40 oil with an Bosch Distance+ Premium Filter, cleaned the headliner (a little dingy due to age - not anymore!), installed all new LED overhead and door courtesy lighting, refurbished the front grill and trim, opened up all (4) doors and lubed the power window mechanisms and cleaned all the switch mechanisms, removed the roof rack system to repair the worn paint and replaced with new hardware, removed and repaired the passenger power seat mechanism, installed (4) new Cooper Discoverer STT offroad tires ($850+), and designed/built/installed a custom CAD designed and CNC cut winch bumper ($800+).Bumper is made from 7/16" thick "spines" bolted to the frame, wrapped with 1/4" plate steel in the center to protect the frame and radiator and provide the pulling point for the winch, and finished with 11-ga skin on the "wings" to finish out the bumper to the wheel wells. Bumper was then primed and painted to match the trim color in the OEM Lexus wheels and wheel center caps. Aux lights can be added as well as any 8,000-12,000 lb winch of your liking after purchase. If you don't like or want the front bumper - NO PROBLEM. I still have the factory bumper and can reduce the price by a few hundred dollars if I put it back on and sell the steel winch bumper seperately. Only issues currently known for this truck is that the power windows can be a little "weak" in colder weather as the rubber firms up due to age. In warm weather (garaged), they work fine. The passenger rear door lock actuator is not working consistently. You can get a replacement motor from eBay for under $10 and do it yourself or get a new lock actuator from Toyota for around $180. It doesn't bother me, so I haven't fixed it. Lastly, the EGR will "stick" every so often and cause a CEL. Since this does not affect performance or efficiency, I just pull the ECU fuse under the hood for a few second and replace to clear the code when it pops up. No harm done and no expense required. Other than these small items (considering that this is a 16+ year old truck), this thing is in great shape and is ready to go!I am attaching just a couple pictures for now. I will add more by tomorrow (Dec 28th). Also, any picture requests can be sent to 251-753-5603 via text and I will reply back as soon as possible - the truck is currently in my garage as I'm driving my car for my commute. There are currently 19 eBay members "watching" this listing and I have received quite a few questions, so I though I would post the answers to most here as well as some additional pictures for reference. No previous body and/or paint work that I know of on this truck. Currently only one small dent on the driver front fender at the headlight (see pic below) and some tiny misc dings here an there - maybe 4 or so. No major dents or scratches of any kind. Very good condition for a 15+ year old truck. Paint has great shine and no sign of clear coat damage. Interior is clean and leather is decent. Front seats have different leather than the rest since it was replaced and the color is just slightly darker. Dash looks great with no cracks or fading at all. Again, it's a 15-year-old truck, so don't expect it to be perfect. Mechanically, it's very good condition. A/C is very cold and heat works very well. Starts up perfect every time you turn the key and idles smooth with no misses or issues. Currently no major leaks (just typical minor oil leaks on the FZJ, but no serious ones) and does not burn oil at all. No valve knock and no other engine/transmission/transfer case/differential/or axle issues. Relatively new brakes, and they stop the truck VERY well, so no master cylinder issues at all either.
