1974 MG Midget, s/n – GAN5UE147xxxG. Purchased 10/2009 with 32,169 original miles. Car was complete and original. Full nut and bolt restoration completed to the highest level over a period of 2 years. Full digital photo documentation of every step. Hundreds of photos taken, including full photo documentation prior to disassembly and during disassembly. Body stripped to bare metal with flawless two-part finish system applied in factory original color (Damask Red). Every mechanical component rebuilt and refinished. Suspension and ancillary components stripped and powder coated. Actual out of pocket expense for materials and parts alone exceeded $25,000. Parts purchased were either nos or factory correct (purchased directly from England). Might well be the finest rwa 1275 Midget in the country. Current mileage 34,415. Best of show or best of class in every show entered, routinely topping vintage Jaguars, big Healeys and Italian exotics. All exterior lighting nos and perfect. New top with zip-out window. Top frame refinished. Top clamps chromed. Perfect factory original convertible top boot. Perfect original tonneau cover with refinished factory frame. Nos door closing hardware. Five new factory correct wire wheels with Vredestein tires, spare included. Correct jack, emergency tools, storage pouch and indoor car cover. Engine totally rebuilt to finest level using 1967 high compression specs. Peter Burgess (England) cylinder head on 12G940 core. Over $5000 in parts and machining. All components balanced. AUD266 carbs rebuilt to new by Acme Speed Shop. Custom distributor curve on rebuilt unit by Advanced Distributors. All ancillary components powder coated. Leak-free, strong and smooth. All rebuild records available with car. Bell stainless steel exhaust. Rebuilt alternator and wiper motor. New electronic SU fuel pump. Flywheel machined and balanced. All new clutch components. Radiator, oil cooler and heater core flushed, repaired and refinished. Correct engine compartment decals. Gear reduction starter. Recent compression readings 195, 200, 195, 205. Perfect, original dash. All gauges rebuilt to factory new. Correct nos steering wheel. Period correct radio with factory appearance correct speaker system. Seats completely rebuilt, including stripping and refinishing frames, all new webbing, and custom seat cover in leather made in England to factory correct pattern. Wilton wool carpet, installed over heat/sound proofing of entire interior. Factory correct interior panels, custom made in England. All new glass and seals. Refinished and polished windshield and door glass trim. Suspension/Brakes completely rebuilt, including factory new euro height springs. All components stripped and powder coated. All bushings and hardware replaced. Brake master and clutch master rebuilt and re-sleeved by White Post Restoration. All lines custom made with stainless steel, utilizing factory correct attachment hardware. Rebuilt caliper and new rotors. Factory correct front wheel bearings. Rebuilt shock absorbers by Peter Caldwell. Differential housing stripped and powder coated. Rear suspension completely rebuilt to oem specs. Rebuilt steering rack with oem new tie rod ends. Transmission completely rebuilt by John Esposito of Quantum Mechanics. Work included all new gears, bearings, layshaft and gaskets. Front cover re-machined to accept a standard seal (corrects front tranny leak). Exterior stripped and refinished. Leak free. Differential completely rebuilt by John Esposito of Quantum Mechanics. Original gears were in excellent condition and reused. All bearings replaced. Exterior stripped and refinished. Leak free. Driveshaft stripped and powder coated. New u-joints with grease fittings installed. Simply too much has gone into this restoration to list it here. Absolutely nothing was overlooked. Every electrical component, mechanical item and appearance part was restored to the highest level. Everything works. If you want the best of the best, this is your MG.
