Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1928 FORD TUDOR MODEL A CHOPPED AND CHANNELED RECENTLY COMPLETED STEEL BODY CAR. I built this car to keep. I purchased the best parts I could find. A lot of new parts went into this build. Starting at the front axle its a 4" drop superbell. Everything is new hub to hub. I split a pair of original 28 ford wishbones + adjusted them to run 6 degrees caster. The steering column and steering box are 1964 mustang. I had it inspected and was found in great condition regreased and installed. The blinkers and hazard lights are wired up and work. A new box chassis was fabricated for this car with a 4" rear step. A 350 chevy and th350 transmission were fit to the chassis. The engine has steel ported heads and a aluminum intake with a new holley 650 vacuum secondary carburetor. The lakes style headers were custom built to fit this car. They are followed by straight 2 1/2" red hots (glass packs) mufflers. Topped off with original CAL CUSTOM valve covers. The interior has a custom made metal finished and polished aluminum bench seat and aluminum shifter. The 1953 chevy dash was molded in. The speedo needs a cable but but has been tested and works fine. Three aftermarket guages have been fit to the dash - water temperature, volts and oil pressure. The fuel level is checked from a site glass on the tank. The glove box is functional. The chrome on the dash is original 1953 so it shows a little patina. The body is a early steel 1928 tudor sedan. It was completely disassembled, sandblasted and any rust was completely removed and repaired with new metal. All repairs were tig welded ,metal finished and epoxy primered. Soon after a 5 1/2" chop was completed tig welded and metal finished. The body was then channeled 4" over the chassis and hidden door hinges were installed along with bear claw latches. The door glass is removable no regulators are yet installed. All new top wood has been installed and the body has been topped with a polished aluminum insert, polished drip rails and aluminum visor. The grill shell is a modified 1928. Its filled and peaked with a custom stainless mesh insert. The fenders are 1930/31 fiberglass modified to fit a 1928 channeled body. The back fenders are removable to make for easy tire repair if necessary. The rear axle is a new from drum to drum with a winters quick change. You can change gears in less than 15 minutes. Included in the auction are 2 sets of gears giving 4 possible ratios 650:1 / 550:1 / 450:1 / 350:1 / 250:1. The wheels, tires, polished stainless trim rings, and caps were purchased from coker tire and painted red. They are bias plys. The fronts are 5.00-5.25 firestone deluxe champions and the rear are 10" firestone dragster dot legal slicks. This car was built to be as mechanical as possible like a old hotrod should be in my eyes. The straight axle, bias plys, glass packs and quick change make for a musical experience. The loud exhaust the whine from the straight cut gears on the quick change rear and panels will remind you this is a hot rod!!! This car has a clear 1928 ford title and is being sold as is. You are welcome to inspect and test drive at my location. We reserve the right to end the auction early because the car is being advertised locally as well.
