Vehicle Detail
Hello fellow Ebayer's you are viewing my 1967 Triumph Bonneville 650. I am listing my last Triumph after many years of collecting/riding and rebuilding these great bikes. I will break this very original and numbers matching bike down into sub-categories to describe the bike as accurately as possible so that when you come to pick it up we will both be happy. I have kept this bike in as original as possible condition as I like preserving more than restoring (if you want an Old Bonny to look new and ride safely than go purchase one of the imitation new ones…it will go well with your fake watch collection.) The Motor-This 650 will start first kick every time and for the non-believers it even still has the points! About three years ago I rebuilt the top end (piston, rings and gaskets) at the same time I had Maciag motors go through my rare monobloc Amal carbs where they were fit with updated sliders and internal wear parts. I also installed new cables at that time. The bike sometimes leaks oil and sometimes almost none; I believe it to be an intermittent check valve hanging up on the oil pump assy. It’s easy to change but it hasn’t bothered me enough to do it. The bike makes great oil pressure and old bonny’s leak so I will leave it up to the new owner’s discretion. The Transmission- This unit construction transmission shifts excellent with no problems whatsoever. The Frame- The frame is in great shape with no signs of wreckage and no signs of modification. This is amazing to find since these bikes had to live through the 70’s The Tank and Tin- I am running a larger tank and matching paint tin. I like the looks of the bigger tank and the slightly increased riding range. It has its original paint and the handlebar dent (while bothersome) has stopped me from getting it repaired. The patina on it is awesome and I’d rather look at the dent than a poorly matched repair. I Have in my attic an original 67 small sport tank that for an additional $250. I will throw in with the sale of the bike. The Wheels and Tires- These are the original Dunlop spoked wheels in excellent condition and yes (I’m nuts) the matching original Dunlop Gold Seal tyres. (My company sold the machine to Dunlop that made these so I have even more reason to keep them on!) They are certainly dry cracked but they look to cool to remove, besides we all watched the Worlds’ Fastest Indian and saw that with some black shoe polish they are good for at least 200mph. The Brakes- Well they are there and that is basically all one can say for the 1967 Bonneville brakes. I can’t say they will impress but they never did! I replaced the front cable when I freshened up some things 3 years ago and are working as they should. The Lighting- All the lights work including the pilot/indicator lights on the bezel. The Instruments- These are the VERY rare smith’s gauges that I bought new cables for which makes the speedo work intermittently. The tach cable after the second one sent is still the wrong cable so this will need attention. The big thing is they are there and that is usually the big challenge. I believe I have covered the main things that need to be written about. As for the rest, the photos speak for themselves. She is a really pretty bike that always catches looks in motion and sparks up fun conversation when it’s not. Please bid to own not to come look at it and Good Luck! -Jeremy
