This is a NO RESERVE auction for a rare European specification 1983 Porsche 928S 5-speed VIN: WPOZZZ92ZDS840287 (Ebaymotors does not recognize European VIN #) that is equipped with the desirable 300hp M28/11 engine, which is significantly more powerful than the USA specification 5-speed models that came equipped with the 240hp M28/19 engines. The odometer reads 65,650 miles although it is currently not functioning so true mileage is unknown. This 928 is best described as a “project car” that is most appropriate for the hobbyist that is capable of servicing the car themselves, which I will describe in detail below. Engine/Transmission: The 300hp M28/11 engine runs strong and is been equipped with exhaust headers, a true dual custom exhaust system with Borla s/s mufflers/exhaust tips, and a K&N air filter element, which produces an amazing and soul-stirring exhaust note. The timing belt was re-tensioned on 11/2011, but it is unknown when the timing belt and water pump were last changed so I recommend that the next owner replace these items as well as the crankshaft/camshaft seals and valve cover gaskets to address minor oil leaks. The 5-speed manual transmission has the typical 928 1st-2nd synchro wear, but no synchro replacement is necessary at this time as the transmission shifts very well overall. The clutch does need to be replaced at this time so although this Porsche is drivable, I would not recommend driving it a long distance. Suspension/Brakes: The suspension is another outstanding aspect of this 928 as it is equipped with Koni shocks that have been fitted with high-performance Hypercoils suspension coil-over springs as well as an adjustable high-performance front sway bar assembly. This 928 is also equipped with high-performance grooved and slotted front brake rotors, which enhance the already impression braking capability. Exterior: This 928S Euro has been repainted in the past in its stunning original Guards Red color and shines nicely as evidenced by the photos, but is best described as being of presentable “driver” quality. Touch-up work has been performed to address rock chips, light scratches, and scrapes to the top front fender well lips that were caused by the oversized wheels/tires that were previously fitted on the car. There is only one known very small ding on the driver side of the car that can only be noticed upon careful inspection and likely can be removed with paintless dent removal (see photo). The 928 has no known accident-history, was a southern car until recently, and the cleanliness of the undercarriage leads me to believe the car has never been driven in snow during the winter months. The front spoiler lip is missing, but I would not recommend replacing this as these are torn-off quite easily. This 928 is equipped with original style 16”x7” forged alloy wheels that have been chromed and are fitted with Yokohama tires all the way around. Interior: This 928 is equipped with a full-leather interior. The tan leather seats with the contrasting black carpets and black dash give the interior a striking look. The leather on the bolster of the front driver’s side seat is worn through so I would recommend either having this panel replaced or covering the front seats with sheepskin covers. The leather dash has been covered with a dash cap. The rear leather sail panels are in beautiful condition and have such little shrinkage and warping I am left with the impression this car did not spend much time sitting out in the sun. The carpeted parking brake cover is missing and the driver’s side window switch needs replacing. The windows are slightly tinted, which keep interior temperatures down and protects the interior from the sun. The a/c compressor belt has been disconnected, but all other components of the original and superior R12 system appear to be intact so I do not foresee it taking too much work to get the a/c functioning again. Summary: This 1983 928S Euro is an incredible opportunity for the hobbyist who can perform the necessary service repairs themselves to become the owner a rare and unique Porsche.
