Vehicle Detail
Offered for sale is a very rare example of a solid, rust-free, matching numbers, final year MGA 1600 MK II Roadster finished in arguably the most sought after and correct color scheme. Set apart by the distinctive recessed grill, horizontal tail-lights and a more powerful 1,622-cc engine, the 1962 MGA MKII is one of the most desirable models MG ever produced. Evidenced by its excellent condition, this example has always been garaged and looked after and always maintained by professionals. This is a very well cared for and original car.The exterior of the car is in exceptional shape. The factory correct Iris Blue paint is is impeccable, consistent, deep and lustrous. As the pictures show, the car looks gorgeous and wouldn’t need a thing to be a perfect weekend garage queen or an exceptional daily driver. The chrome is excellent, the glass and rubber are great and all of the fits and gaps are correct. The interior presents as nearly showroom new, having been refurbished using all of the correct materials. The soft top is in excellent condition, as is the trunk, free of rust and housing its original spare tire and tools.Mechanically the car is excellent, the original matching-numbers engine starting easily, pulling strongly and smoothly through all of the gears and braking and driving straight without any rattles or shuddering. The car retains its original SU carburetors which are tuned and functioning as they should. The undercarriage is in excellent condition showing no rust or corrosion anywhere. We recently just drove this car up the coast for the weekend and it performed wonderfully and garnered many thumbs ups and smiles from other motorists. I’d have no qualms taking this on any long-distance drives, but its owners have always primarily used it as a cherished weekend driver and occasional show contestant. We hope that its next owner will treat the car with the same passionate care. This is an excellent opportunity to get one of the best, most desirable and rare MGA’s out there. We want this car to go to a great home, so please feel free to email me or give us a call at (805) 886-1823 or (805) 708-2404 if you have any additional questions. Thanks for your interest. You can visit us online at Goodman Reed. GOODMAN REED MOTORCARSWhile I have a California dealer license, I’m not your typical dealer. I’ve always had an appreciation for classic cars and have always bought and sold them to create a kind of very small revolving personal collection, which, up until this posting, has contained the MG you’re currently looking at. I try to give accurate descriptions of the cars I’m selling, but I’m not an expert and I encourage and am happy to help facilitate personal or professional inspections. But please do so before bidding, as the alternative harms my ability to make sales with other interested parties who have done their proper due diligence before bidding. For U.S. buyers a 10% non-refundable deposit is required within 3 days of the auction's end, the balance to be paid within 7 days of the auction's end. Foreign buyers must pay in full within 7 business days of auction’s end. Buyer is responsible for shipping, however I'd be more than happy to help with recommendations and arrangements. The car is listed locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time should it sell prior to auction's end. Thanks for your interest.
