Vehicle Detail

You are looking at a very nice 1956 CJ5. The reserve has been lowered!!! I have bought and sold on Ebay and I want to be sure I described the car completely. Of course my preference would be that you come and look before you bid, but if you are not able I will be happy to answer all your questions. Email your questions or email your phone and I will call you. I bought this CJ jeep a few years ago and have put extensive work into it...as you can see from the pictures it is freshly painted, replaced seat covers w marine grade covers, added 3rd seat. The engine has been completely professionally rebuilt...everything internal is new. There is a new YF carburator and I have just had it tuned by one of the best jeep guys in the Mid Atlantic. Compression in all 4 cylinders is 120. New points, plugs, cap, gas tank, wiper motors (electric) etc. Only 150 miles on the new engine. All new brakes and brake lines. New Shocks. Added new heater (aftermarket). Transmission was rebuilt by the previous owner (who's family owned it from the beginning I was told.) You will see it has the very rare break out front wind shield - which is the reason I bought it- These windshield are impossible to get so I had this one completely rebuilt with new glass. 4WD works fine and it has WARN hubs. Wheels are 33X12.5 R15. Rubber is good. All new wiring which I did myself so I KNOW it is right. Converted to 12V with alternator. Added steps on both side which really help on the CJ5 if you are over 50! Top is Best Brand and is used and the plastic clear. Doors are fine and plastic is clear...I never use them. Also have a bikini top. Roll bar and seat belts added (my wife insisted) New left fender. New rocker panels (you know where they rust) Gravel guards on front lights. I also have a car cover for the Jeep. Oversized tires and steering damper. For your further consideration: left front turn signal and parking light not working...I have the parts just not put them in yet; temp gauge not working- new sender so I assume it is the guage. There is a rust spot in the back of the tool box under the passenger seat...when I had it painted it was to be fixed but he forgot!- not a big deal, but it is a hole. It needs to be cut out and new piece welded in...see picture. I have the paint numbers. When I had it painted we looked carefully underneath...frame is fine but there are a few places where the panels have rusted...it would have meant a frame off to fix and they are not critical...but I want you to know. I would spay then with rust proof and enjoy the ride... Why am I selling...also just finished a 1951 Willys Pickup and my better half suggests something has to go so HER car can get in the garage before winter. I do not expect to get my investment out of this...which is well over 12K...and the previously owner did not either so the lucky buyer that is last in line gets real value...you know how this goes... Needs to be picked up or shipped within a few days of auction... Thanks for looking and of course it is being offered locally so I reserve the right to withdrawl...and yes sold as is... This is a real classic...I have certainly enjoyed itOn Dec-01-11 at 06:06:31 PST, seller added the following information:Hi..some of you have asked about the VIN number...here it is 5754834801. Also a bit more on the car's history. I was told by the family that owned that it was orginnally exported to Korea after the Korean War and brought back to the US in the late 50's by the owner who was a GI. That is why it has the fold out window which, as I was told, was not avaiable in the the US on the CJ5. Thanks and keep your questions coming.
