1959 Chevrolet El Camino with 283 V8, 3 speed manual transmission with automatic overdrive. This truck is mostly straight and mostly there. Great for a restoration project. It is VIN H59L123432, and I have a clear title in hand. This is an original V8 car, but I don't know if this is the original block or transmission. I don't know how to decode chevys, but I will be glad to take pictures of any casting or stamping numbers upon request. Please give exact location of the number if you want a photo. It has rust in all the usual places: Around rear wheel wells, bed, along the very front of the hood, floor pans and near the chrome around the top of the bed. It also has a cracked windshield and drivers side vent window. I believe this car was originally a light green color. The car is being sold because I am moving so it needs to go and is being sold without a reserve price. No trades will be considered. The car is located in the Seattle Washington, USA, area about a 1/2 hour drive from an international airport. You are responsible for shipping the car, and it must be picked up by November 30th. There is a Public Storage location 2 blocks from my house if you need temporary storage, but you must make all the arrangements. The car was last driven in 1991. It got stuck in the mud and when it got towed out the transmission got stuck in gear. Another El Camino restorer said he suspects both shift levers got pushed by the mud at the same time and it tried to shift into two different gears at once, jamming the transmission. The drive shaft will have to be disconnected for the car to roll freely. The overdrive unit has only about 10,000 miles on an $800 rebuild. The clutch plates seem to be stuck together, so the engine will not turn over. The engine ran fine when last driven, but it has been 20 years so it's best to assume it needs work or may not turn over even if the clutch/transmission are fixed.
