I've owned this VW since the early 90's when I lived in Los Angeles. It was always taken care of and serviced at both VW Specialties and The Little Engine Shop in Pasadena. I moved to NY and had it shipped in 2000 where it has been stored inside under a custom car cover that comes with the car. It has never seen snow so there is no rust or corrosion. The under carriage is clean and typical of a West coast car. Its had new maintenance items in the last 4 yrs. -new CIS lines,CIS system works as it should -new thermostat in 2004 -brakes are good -new BERU cap,rotor,plug wires and plugs in 2005 It will get a new battery before delivery or shipment. The engine still has lots of power. No smoking or leaks of any kind. The clutch and transmission work great as well. The only upgrades I have done are new Corbeau style sport seats ( the old ones were too cracked up ) and the 17in Flik alloy wheels w/ Hankook tires ( 205 40 17 size). I also replaced the worn out stock steering wheel with a Grant GT wheel. I can't find the horn button but I know they sell them at Pep Boys. The horn does work fine. The convertible top was new in 2004 and is still in very good condition. No rips or damage. The headliner however is original and has some tears and is dirty. Functional but needs to be replaced eventually. This has made the car tons of fun to drive. The radio is old and doesn't work very well, but everything else is good. Not too many Mk1's in this condition. The NY title is in my possession and is clear. The car is located in the New York 12184 zip code and can be inspected if you email me for an appt.
