Vehicle Detail

1977 AMC Gremlin X As defined by Wikipedia, a gremlin is an imaginary, mischievous creature! And it still makes me laugh that AMC actually named one of their cars a Gremlin. But even better is the laughs and smiles I get from everyone who sees this car—more than any single car in my collection. Offered here is my 1977 Gremlin X in Sun Orange with the VERY rare and MUCH sought after Hot Scotch plaid interior. I have had this car for two years and enjoyed every minute of it. Sadly, I am out of room and something has to go and this one really needs to go to a good home—someone who will enjoy and appreciate it. Since this is the X model, it has that distinctive sports flair inside and out—and all the upgrades and features that go along with it—including but not limited to bucket seats with the Hot Scotch upholstery, full length body striping with X decal, sport steering wheel, special wheels with trim rings and raised letter sport tires and extra quiet insulation package. In addition, this Gremlin came from the factory with an AM/FM stereo, ice-cold air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, inside hood release, rear spoiler, remote driver's side outside mirror and optional passenger-side outside mirror as well as a roof rack and center console. The car starts, runs and stops as it should. The 258 cubic inch 6-cylinder engine (the biggest engine available in a 1977 Gremlin) fires right up and the car zips around town easily. The automatic transmission shifts well and the brakes are in good shape. I put a new radiator in and did all the usual maintenance stuff and it hasn’t needed much more. The tires are relatively new and appear to have plenty of tread left. The carpet is new and the dash is free of cracks. Although overall the car is in pretty good shape, it is not perfect and there are a few flaws and items that need attention as follows: radio works intermittently, there is a knob missing from one of the door handles and the rubber seals around the doors and windows could use to be replaced. The paint, while VERY presentable and shiny does have some minor knicks and scratches, though they are barely noticeable. The odometer shows about 33,250 miles but I have no way of knowing if that is correct or if it has turned over at some point. This is a great, fun car that will be immensely enjoyed by its new owner. But please remember—it’s a Gremlin—not a Lexus—so keep those expectations in check! On top of that, it is a 24 year old car and is sold as-is/where-is with absolutely no warranty of any kind express or implied. You are encouraged and urged to ask all questions BEFORE bidding and if at all possible, come and see it and drive it as well. And if you want more pics, just ask! Please remember that if you win the auction, you have bought the car—not the option to decide if you want it or not. Thanks very much! On Oct-24-11 at 16:12:24 PDT, seller added the following information: Whoops! Meant 34 year old car--not 24! Sorry--math not my strong suit--or maybe it just makes me feel young again to drive it!On Oct-24-11 at 22:18:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Also, this car came to me without smog equipment. It's currently registered but certain states require smog equipment.
