Vehicle Detail
This is a rare car and in amazing original condition. I purchased the car in April 2010. It had sat in a garage for over 20 years. It had not been started or ran for 20 years. I am the 3rd documented owner. Vehicle is all original, has not been restored or repainted. Car has current Washington State collector car plates, runs and drives great. I will do my best to describe vehicle, it's condition, and provide any info that is requested. Odometer on vehicle says 1218 miles - THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS, BUT THE ODOMETER DOESN"T TURN. So actual mileage is difficult to know. If I were guessing, the odometer has not turned over - but I can't prove. Many original factory stickers are still under the hood, so I believe it has less than 100k miles. Everything works on the car electrically. Lights, signals, horn. Fuel tank was removed, cleaned, resealed. Carb was removed and rebuilt. Overall the body is in great original shape. There are a few dings. There are two spots of rust that are visible and through the fender and passenger rear panel - pictures will show. Other than that, only light rust is found in spot. The floor boards in car are not rusty. In my opinion, this car is a great opportunity for someone who has the time and space to do a full restoration. New paint would go a long way towards protecting this car. Car has new exhaust, new Kumho Powerstar tires, wheels have been powdercoated. Runs and drives very solid. It will get up to 70 mph on flat ground, with no headwind. Solid rolling down the road. Some interesting points to this car that collectors will recognize as being unique. The rear interior panels have original factory plastic on them. Check photos. Original dealer invoice and window sticker are in car. Purchased from Pontiac City in Spokane on 11/27/191 for $1960. The all but impossible thin black plastic cover for the rear compartment of the vehicle is there - the interior cover for the rear lights. Yes it is cracked and brittle, but these are impossible to find, I have not seen one for sale. Rear windows that open still have original leather tabs - just shows this car has not been heavily used. Interior is in great shape. Seats have normal wear and rips in bottom. Top of back seat is cracked and brittle from sun. Known issues with the car; two rust spots, rear passenger panel and drivers fender. Rear hatch is there and complete, but it is tweaked and sprung. It sat improperly closed for 20 years. It still opens and closes and locks, but it isn't perfect Engine runs well, starts right up. No smoke out the exhaust at all. It appears where the drive axels enter the transmission section, there are leaks. I presume there are seals there that need to be replaced. Not a huge issue, but it does leak oil. As is common with these 40 year old cars, the paint was not the best to begin with. There are little chips all over the body and in some there is minor surface rust starting. Except for what I mentioned, there is no serious rust that I have found. The paint was dead flat when I got the car. I cleaned and polished it back to life. No signs this car was ever wrecked or repainted - this is original pop orange paint. I am probably forgetting lots of specific info. Please email me with questions - I will do my very best to provide accurate info and also provide pictures of whatever you ask for, as long as I can get a camera into. So as long as I have owned this car and for the previous 20 years at least, she has been in a dry garage out of the elements. On Oct-26-11 at 08:21:33 PDT, seller added the following information: The rear hatch has two cracks on the bottom outside - one on each side. Hatch still works, but it is not perfect. Please ask questions about specifics. I am not a professional car seller and I want the buyer to be happy with their purchase. Thanks. If you would like to talk to me by phone, just email me through Ebay and I will be happy to talk with you. John
