Vehicle Detail
Up for bid is a 1960 Ford F-100 factory 4x4. This truck is a long bed, 6cyl, 4 speed. 1960 was the second year that Ford made a factory 4x4. These trucks are not very common. It is 99% original and has been very well taken care of through the years. I believe that I am the second owner and the original owner's business logo is still on the doors. It reads “Mayberry Beveled Glass Co.”. The truck was originally purchased in Concord, California, and has been in California since new. The odometer reads about 111K, and I believe it to be correct, I do have some old vehicle records that support the mileage. This is one of the most original and untouched trucks I’ve owned and the overall condition is great. Drive train- The motor is the original 223 6cyl, with a 4 speed trans. The motor has a rebuild tag on it but I don’t know how many miles on it since. The motor runs excellent, and doesn’t smoke at all. It starts right up every morning. The clutch works perfect and the trans shifts great. The transfer case shifts into high, low and neutral just fine. The front and rear axels have no noises or issues at all. The brake system is completely brand new. Everything I replaced was with new parts, not rebuilt. All of the following parts are new within the last month; wheel cylinders, brake shoes, brake drums, master cylinder, soft line from master cylinder to body, clutch master cylinder, clutch slave cylinder, the soft line in between the slave and clutch master, front wheel bearings and races, recored radiator, starter, starter solenoid, battery, radiator hoses and the drag link between pitman arm and spindle and all four shocks. I just put a ton of money in it! The motor will need a valve adjustment sometime soon, there is one lifter that is ticking, and it wouldn’t hurt to replace the tie rods and have in aligned. The front leaf spring bushings will need to be replaced also. The truck runs, drives and stops great. The steering is tight but because of the egged out leaf spring bushings, the front end sometimes has a very mild wobble around 40 mph. The winch is PTO driven and works great. It looks like it was installed by the dealership. The rims are the original 16’x4’ with the Ford truck 5 lug pattern. They have just been powder coated in black. The tires are brand new 750x16 Power King Premium Traction bias-ply tires. These tires are hard to find and not cheap! I drive this truck everyday, it is very reliable. The few things that need to be done are fairly minor. Body- On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give this truck an 8. The paint is 100% original, it has never been repainted or touched up or anything-inside or out. The paint has a great patina and still shines. The rust is very minimal. The cab corners have a few pinholes as do the door bottoms. I took pics of both areas to show how solid they are. There is no rust in the bottom of the fenders or floors or hood. There is a small rust hole above the drip rail on each side. The bed is solid with only surface rust, and is not beat up at all, same with the tailgate. There are 5 very mild dents on the truck and are in the pictures. There’s not even many dings. The body is very straight. The grill is perfect with no dents or dings. The worst body damage is on top of the hood. It looks like a fan blade broke and went through the hood, I think it gives it some character. The doors open and close perfectly. I just replaced the door weather stripping so they do need to be closed firmly, but once the rubber breaks in a little they’ll be back to normal. The hood opens and closes fine. All the glass in in pretty good shape. The windshield has one small chip but is not cracked or bubbled around the edges. The wing windows have some bubbles. The door and rear glass are in nice shape. It wouldn’t hurt to replace the window felting. Interior- The only thing that doesn’t work on the truck are the wipers. Everything else works. Notice the old AM radio...it still works perfectly. I just had the seat reupholstered. It does need a new rubber floor mat. I have the inner door panels, I just haven’t screwed them on . The headliner and visors are original. The wiring has not been messed with and is in very nice condition. Overall this is fantastic truck! You wont find another that is this original, and in such good condition, especially a 4x4. I don’t want to sell it but I’m building a house and have no choice right now. I have a clear California title. It still has the black California plates. Feel free to call, text or email anytime with questions. I can deliver this truck any where in the US for a fee. This truck is for sale or trade. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
