Vehicle Detail
This is a 1970 Datsun 240Z Series 1 that was produced in August of 1970. This 240Z was abandoned at a repair shop almost ten years ago. When the repair shop went out of business I acquired it from them and it has been stored in a climate controlled garage since 2005. There is currently no title with the car and I have had the local police department inspect the car and run the serial number through their databases and there is no outstanding report, claim, etc. In addition, I have also located a title company that can procure a title for $445 and I will provide the new owner with the quote and paperwork to procure a title. Now onto the story of the car as I know it: This 240Z was produced in August of 1970 and shipped to Hawaii (in the jack and tool kit there is a slip of paper with the following Showa period date: 45.8.15 or August 15, 1970). It was purchased new in September of 1970 as a present for a daughter just graduating college. It was shipped to California where it lived until the mid 1970's. The car was shiped to Europe (note the fog lamp on the rear bumper) in late 1980 and remained there until 1982 when it was shipped back to the U.S. The car sat until 1984 and in late 1984 it was parked and has not been driven since. It has never been in an accident although it has been painted once in the original color (color code 901) silver. The interior is in complete and clean condition and the dashboard has a couple of small cracks and the driver's side seat cushion is split. The floors and frame rails are solid and there are sme minor rust spots as depicted in the pictures. The roof is peeling due to a thick coat of filler and there are no rust holes and if the new owner wishes I have a roof from a 1978 280Z that will convey with the car. In some of the pictures you will notice that there was side molding which I removed the same day these pictures were taken (no drill holes thanks to double sided stick tape). Also you may notice that the car still has its original Koito headlights and its original date coded spare tire. In the engine bay you will notice the "2400 OHC" valve cover which is original to the car. This 240Z also has the early style c-pillar metal emblems which are in a box in the car. I have also scrubbed the wheelwells and most of the undercarriage and there is no undercoating. The main reason for selling the car is that I realize after six years of watching it sit in my garage that I will never get to it and this 240Z deserves a chance to be restored. In addition, I have some other Z cars that need tending to. I have selected a few from those new shots below: On Oct-16-11 at 20:10:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that the engine block is the original and it is a "number's matching" car.
