Vehicle Detail

FOR SALE: 1984 Oldsmobile Toronado Brougham coupe. odometer reads 56,862 but according to the maintenance log this has rolled over once, actual mileage is 156,271 which is still low for this old of a vehicle! This is a well maintained original Oldsmobile that was purchased new by the original owner, who kept a maintenance log in the glovebox for oil changes and parts that were replaced. The car is well equipped with a 307 Olds V8 engine w/original 4 barrel Rochester Quadrajet carb, automatic transmission, nice leather interior, power windows, power mirror and power seats, I believe that I am the third owner. I purchased the car with the intent on restoring it and driving it to car shows, Plans have changed and I've decided to pass the car on to someone else who might be able to complete the restoration or just drive it as-is and get some enjoyment out of it. I just had the oil changed and new filters, it has new hoses and belts, a fresh carb gasket kit install and tune up, and brand new Goodyear whitewall tires. Starts, runs, and drives straight down the road. I drive it to work on occasion. Please see the video that I am posting below for more details. LOW RESERVE I'm selling the car because I don't need four vehicles cluttering up my driveway! I have been driving the car back and forth to work a couple times per week so the mileage may go up before the sale's end. History: The lady who purchased this car back in the 1980s kept a pretty good maintenance log of everything that was done to the car, starting in 1988, and continuing through present day. I have kept up this log by adding to it. The record shows that this car was purchased on Mar 7, 1984 by a Margaret Crosby of Robinson, IL. Mileage at delivery was 21. First maintenance record begins 7/18/1988 so I'm not sure if she kept earlier records, but I don't have them. Oil change on 7/18/1988 shows an odometer reading of 23992. Maintenance log continues showing oil changes just about every 3000 miles for the next 20 years. Mileage on 7/20/1992 was 46477. Mileage on 10/30/1998 was 91095. And it looks like the odometer rolled over around the year 2000. Mileage on Jan 21, 2000 was 01294 (101294) miles. Mileage in 2005 was 129169. Current mileage 156,862 Service record shows in the past decade: Dec 2001 - new ball joints Jan 2002 - New brake booster (odometer:114000) and new shocks (odometer: 118127) and front rotors turned 2005 - New Spark Plugs and battery (odometer 130837) 2006 - New Water Pump , New Belts & Hoses (odometer 135716) 2007 - New spark plugs, air filter, and new master cylinder (odometer 140390) 2009 - New plugs & wires, distributor cap/rotor, thermostat 2011 - New air filter, new tires, carb kit installed Exterior: The body is in very good shape with a couple of exceptions. The plastic bumper filler for the rear bumper is missing, as are the side fillers for the front bumper (the center one is intact). These parts are readily available on eBay I just never progressed to the point of installing them. The brown vinyl top is in excellent shape and the pinstriping is intact. Chrome is good. All glass is good with the exception of a rock chip in the windshield that I will have repaired BEFORE the auction ends. There is one area with some rust damage in the rear passenger quarter panel behind the wheel well. The paint overall is in good shape and the car looks good but does have a few nicks and one tiny dent on the rear trunk lid. Both are plainly visible in the video that is below. Interior: Excellent upholstery. Dash is very nice. Front carpet needs cleaned in the center of the car, it looks like it has a spilled coffee stain. The rest of the carpet is good. The headliner is tacked up and could probably use a repair, but it's OK for now. Power windows and mirror work, AM/FM stereo works good. A/C was just recharged and blows cold. Heater works great. Mechanical: Runs great, engine is very strong. Just had carburetor kit installed and tuned. Transmission shifts smoothly. Fresh oil change and air filter. New Goodyear tires with whitewall option. All fluids were checked. The car has many newer parts on it including new belts, hoses, plugs and wires, cap, and brake master cylinder. It also has a 6 month old battery in it that I purchased this Spring. Overall a good looking car that turns heads and would be a great candidate for a VERY easy restoration project and something unique to drive to car shows or cruise night, etc. It does need some TLC in some areas... this brings us to THE BAD: - Driver's power seat motor works fine, but the seat won't move. There's a broken plastic gear that moves the seat back and forth I believe. Should be a fairly easy fix. Passenger seat works fine. - Bumper fillers missing - Rust damage area near rear passenger wheel well. The rest of the body looks good, other than this one blemish. - Headliner is tacked up - Coffee stain in carpet between driver and passenger seat (see video) THE VIDEO: If interested in the car please take a few minutes to view the video I made of the car. I will also be adding additional photos to the listing. The video link is below..Thanks for looking! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCNdX-GrljQ
