Its 3.2-liter V6 with three valves per cylinder delivers 221 horsepower and sprints from zero to 60 mph in 7.8 seconds. The huge and famous single-sweep windshield wiper has a heated washer nozzle so it won't freeze. The remote locking SmartKey system has built-in electronic protection against transmitter cloning; the windows and sunroof open by remote as well. The front suspension uses a double wishbone configuration with coil springs, gas-charged shocks and a stabilizer bar. The rear system is a five-link design and both ends use special anti-lift, anti-dive geometry. During hard braking or fast acceleration the car will stay level. The ride is firm and road grip from the all-weather tires is good. The brakes are four-wheel discs, vented in front and solid in back, with an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and Brake Assist, a system that can detect a panic stop and apply full braking force immediately, depending on how rapidly the brake pedal is depressed. In addition to TeleAid, E-Class comes with a full roster of standard safety equipment. Antilock brakes with brake assist, traction control and stability control keep the E-Class going safely and securely in the direction in which it's pointed. This year, all E-Class sunroofs feature one-touch opening, giving you even more time to play with COMMAND. All of the expected amenities of a premium luxury automobile are found inside. And there are pleasant extras, like the standard dual-level console box, with an air-conditioned lower section to keep a cell phone or small grocery items cool. The short, sloped top of the instrument panel reduces glare, and the firmly-padded, supportive seats reduce fatigue. The driver is further aided by a steering wheel power-adjustable for tilt and reach, with auxiliary control buttons for audio, cell phone, and trip computer systems. Both front seats are power-adjustable by means of simple iconic switches, and have three-position memory. Dual dashboard, front and rear door and head protection airbags, ABS, traction control, stability control, front belt pre- tensioners and a BabySmart child seat recognition system are standard.
