Vehicle Detail

THE STORY: First, it breaks my heart to sell this car. But I'm getting close to retirement and I want to get rid of some bills, so I'm letting it go. This car was built here in KY, was sold in TN, then traded in and bought by a good friend of mine in the late 80's. She kept it until I bought it from her 2 years ago. The car has (as of today- but keep in mind I drive her regularly) 49,244 original, local miles on it. I have all of the documentation all the way back to the factory, including the original sticker! She babied this car to death, and it has probably not seen more than a dozen nights outside of a garage. A few years back she needed to store it, so she arranged for indoor climate controlled storage, and it was started and driven regularly throughout the period so it did not just set up. It's never been smoked it, it's never been hot-rodded. YOU WILL NOT FIND A MORE PERFECT FUN SUNDAY DRIVER THAT YOU CAN ENJOY RIGHT NOW OR STARTER PROJECT FOR RESTORATION! I drive this car almost every weekend, and would have no hesitation at all in driving it across the country. THE GOOD: This car is about as good an example of a classic C4 Vette as you will find mechanically. It runs like a top and drives great. I recently had it completely serviced, to include new fluids, filters, gaskets, hoses, belts, a complete tune up, whatever it needed. I had one of the area's best transmission guys go through it, and he found no problems at all. He flushed it out, replaced fluid and the solenoids, and put her back on the road. It has 4 new tires (maybe 100 miles on them- still under warranty), a new battery, and a new fuel pump. The only thing mechanically that she needs is an air conditioner compressor (about $150 complete) which I will take care of for the Buy It Now price. WHAT SHE NEEDS: The biggest expense is paint. There is absolutely no body damage, and she's never been wrecked. The fiberglass is not cracked or spider-webbed. However the original 1984 paint is weather-worn and the clear coat is showing some age, fading, and oxidation. Otherwise, there are some things that would need attention with the interior if you wanted a real show quality car. The carpet inserts on both door panels has pulled loose. (I think it would be easy enough glue it back down)and the arm rest on the driver's side door also has the covering pulling up (again, might could just stick it back). The top rail on the driver's side is broken, and somebody (no, not me!)screwed it down with a sheet metal screw. It will need replacing. The shifter boot is a little worn. None of this affects the ability of the car to be driven and enjoyed. Purely cosmetic. The power windows work fine, but the passenger side drags a little at times. The release button for the rear hatch isn't working (probably a bad solenoid...a cheap repair). Some of the "fine tune" buttons for the seat aren't working (i.e. the lumbar support adjustment). No idea why, because it didn't matter enough to me to bother to fix them. PAYMENT AND DELIVERY: If you are the winning bidder I will expect a $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 48 hours of the close of the auction (or when you select But It Now), and the balance IN CASH on delivery within 10 days. I will not accept checks, trades or any other arrangements for payment. If you do not have the money already in hand, then don't bid. Delivery is on you. I will deliver the car up to 250 miles of zip code 42241 for $1.25 mile. Further than that, it is up to you to arrange to either pick the car up, or arrange shipping. If I have to take off work to meet a shipper, there will be a $50 fee plus any mileage to the shipping point. While I've tried my best to describe in detail everything about this car, it is still a 1984 model. There is no warranty expressed or implied. It is sold as is, where is. It has a clean KY title. Check with your state to see what is required for transfer. I will not pay any fees or taxes other than those required by KY law. Buyer assumes all responsibility for taxes, title, registration, and transfer fees. QUESTIONS: Feel free to ask, but don't wait until the last minute. I make no promises about being able to get back to you within the last 24 hours of the auction. I will try, but no guarantees. THIS CAR IS FOR SALE LOCALLY, AS WELL AS LISTED AS "BUY IT NOW". I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DISCONTINUE THE AUCTION AT ANY TIME WITHOUT NOTICE. IF YOU WANT IT, BID EARLY OR RISK LOSING IT!On Oct-11-11 at 17:38:26 PDT, seller added the following information:
