This beautiful American luxury GT is powered by the Oldsmobile “Rocket” 455CID(7.5 Liter) V-8 engine, “Quadra-Jet” 4v carburetor, TH400 transmission, and factory dual exhaust. In 1973, Oldsmobile created a European-influenced option for the Cutlass Supreme line known as the “Salon.” It was only available on four door models. 1974 was the first year the “Salon” package and 455CID engine could be ordered with the 2door colonnade body style. 1974 was the first year for the federally mandated bumpers. 1974 was the second year of three for the single headlight (per fender) Cutlasses. 1974 was the last year passenger cars were NOT required to have a catalytic converter as additional emission control devices. (My car has all of her original emissions equipment in place and operating properly. She is exempt from smog regulations in California.) My car carries the VIN 3J57U4R158XXX. It is a “U” code car having been built in the “R” Arlington, Texas assembly plant. It is in extremely original condition and rust free with less than 73,000 original miles. She is currently registered and insured. The exterior of the car is mostly original and rust-free but with some signs of an older repaint. There are minor scrapes along the right side. There is a small dented area on the right front fender. The vinyl top has begun to deteriorate on the top surface, but the sides of the roof are still in good condition. The moldings, glass, lenses, wheel trim rings, etc. are all in very good original condition. The interior is completely original including all gauges, lights, speakers, headlining, seat upholstery, carpets, vanity mirror and factory AM/FM Stereo. The “Salon” package included double-stuffed reclining seats with an integral headrest. There are NO cracks in the dash. There is a small hole in the carpet on the drivers’ side where the original factory rubber mat (included in trunk) rubbed through. This is a three-owner, non-smoker, car. Mechanically, the car is in very good condition being serviced regularly. The engine has been tuned to factory specifications and the vacuum hoses replaced. The radiator has been R and R’d with new hoses, clamps, thermostat, and antifreeze. She starts promptly cold or hot. The transmission was rebuilt with a new Mondello torque converter, shift kit, filter, gasket and fluid. The AC unit was recharged in 2002, but has since lost its ability to cool. The tires are recent, as are the brakes and battery. The car is big, powerful, and fast. The engine has a great deal of torque so it doesn’t hunt for lower gears…it just gets up and GOES! The picture of the dash (while the car is at speed) was taken on a private road in central California.
