Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1969 Camaro w/ 63,346 actual title verified original miles. This is an original 350 #'s matching 4 speed car w/ front power disc brakes & Air condition. The car spent around 15 years in Yokosuka, Japan where it was owned by several military men (at least 3) over the coarse of it's stay in Japan. It was then shipped back to the states & titled in Lynchburg, Virginia on 9/08 by the the retired military owner who i bought the car from earlier this year (2011). I have all the shipping & customs papers for the car along w/ Japanese registration & the Yokosuka, Japan issued license plate !! The Camaro's VIN, engine codes & data tag are decoded below The VIN # 124379L5XXXX8 12 = US registered 67 - 69 camaro 4 = V8 3 = coupe 7 = 67- 69 camaro 9 = 1969 L = Van Nuys, California (L.A.) 5XXXX8 = cars individual number The cars Data tag is as follows ST69 12437 VN3 O1634 TR 711 51 51 PNT 3C P395 ST69 = 1969 12437 = COUPE VN3 = Van Nuys (LA) CA. 01634 = BODY # ASSIGNED BY FISHER (Not a VIN #) TR 711 = interior trim black standard 51 51 = body color & roof color both DUSK BLUE 3C = March, 3rd week Since this is a van nuys car there is not any X11 OR X anything else code where the P395 is on the tag. Cars built in van nuys received only a day of month code & number code. So, the P395 decodes as P=16th day & 395 represents the 395th car down the line. The only way to really determine what engine/trans a van nuys car came equipped w/ originally is if the car still has it's original engine !! Luckily this Camaro does !! The engine codes are as follows passenger side front below head T0224HC = T= Tonawanda, NY. , 02 = Feb. , 24 = 24th day of month HC = 350 manual transmission directly below is stamped = 9L527558 (the car's VIN #) driver's side, rear of block below valve cover 3932388 = 1969 350 W/ 2 or 4 bolt mains above that the code B 21 9 = Feb. 21st 1969 So, as you can see this is a #'s matching 350 manual trans 69 camaro that was original Dusk Blue w/ Black interior. I have not found the build sheet it may or may not be in the car ? As you can see in the pics the car has been painted red ( approx. 15 years ago) & has been changed to an automatic trans (turbo 350 ), but the original 4 speed pedals came w/ the car. I do NOT have the transmission. Below are the modifications & list of new & replacement parts that i have found to be done. Suspension * Custom cut & installed 9'' rear w/ 3.73 gears & a spool w/ U-joint girdles * Wilwood rear disc brakes * traction control bars * KYB shocks all 4 corners * flowmaster 3'' exhaust w/ X-pipe & coated headers * sub-frame connectors (bolt-on) * heavy duty front sway bar kit * front power disc brakes factory style * new master cylinder, brake booster & prop. valve * new upper ball joints * 17'' polished 5 spoke torque thrust style wheels & tires * power steering pump & rag joint have also been replaced Engine & trans Orig. #'s matching 350 engine that runs fine no smoke, no noises or death knocks. The engine could use an overall tune-up, I'm assuming from the way the engine looks & runs it has been rebuilt, but can't say 100% (keep that in mind). The rear main does leak, may be due to sitting for the last several years. The camaro runs & drives ,but not currently tagged or inspected. The engine mods I see are, * Edelbrock 750 carb w/ electric choke & edelbrock street master intake manifold * Mallory unilite 9000 dist. w/ mallory pro master coil & resistor * Accel 8.8 300+ race wires * Chevrolet black powder coated valve covers & air cleaner * chrome HP mechanical fuel pump (re-build-able style) * again engine has headers & 3'' flow master exhaust w/ X-pipe * chrome HD alternator * aluminum water pump w/7 blade clutch fan w/ an extra electric cooling fan (puller) & radiator shroud * trans is a turbo 350 w/ auto meter temp gauge & extra front mount trans cooler, the trans also appears to have been rebuilt at one time (shifts fine) * The drive shaft also has been replaced * the entire A/C unit appears to have been replaced w/ newer upgraded aftermarket components at one time too (compressor, lines, under dash set-up etc.) everything seems to work , but should be recharged I'm sure. The Interior * Again the car has a new A/C heater box assembly under the dash * Dash pad looks great no cracks, seats all look to be original upholstery, the drivers side bottom has been replaced & there is a thin spot on the top (see pics), passenger side nice & rear seat nice. * headliner is nice no rips or tears but sagging a little above drivers side rear seat, the dome light & lens work & are in nice shape, all seat belts are intact. & the carpet is new w/ new red embroidered SS 350 floor mats. * the door panels are all nice (fronts maybe new), door handles window cranks have nice chrome. The door sill plates are new & nice shape. * car has a Jensen detachable face CD player w/ remote & 2 Infinity 6 x 9 rear deck speakers along w/ an 8 inch Nitrous Oxide bottle sub mounted in the trunk. * New Grant GT steering wheel (very nice) * Sun Super Pro Tach ( column mounted) w/ Auto meter Carbon Fiber Ultra lite console mounted ( factory style location) gauges, which include volts, trans temp, water temp & oil pressure (all work) * car has an original console w/ original style shifter again works fine. * a new tinted windshield was installed ,all the other glass appears to be the original tinted GM stuff w/ no scratches or fogging i see. * all dash lights & fuel gauge works ( i believe it had a new sending unit installed) BODY * Unfortunately, the camaro sat out side w/ a cheap car cover on it for around 3 years after arriving in Virginia, it was not driven, it just sat there somewhat neglected. So the car does have some paint bubbles & a faded spot on the hood. It will eventually need some body work done & repainted. The car still looks nice at 10 feet away & i would not be embarrassed to drive it as , but again it does need some TLC !! * The great thing is this car has it's original floor pans, trunk floor & trunk extensions (all are very solid ) & from what i see after being under the car, it does not have any serious rust issues. The doors open & shut nicely on this car & all the body gaps look nice & equal. * the frame rails & body mounts are also rock solid from what i have seen !! * This car has it's original full 1/4 panels , i have looked & felt everywhere i can & see no signs of replacement metal !! The passenger side will need some work at top of wheel arch ( see pics) & the drivers side has some paint bubbles at the bottom (see pics) but I would never cut the 1/4's off this car !! * Rocker panels all look to be very solid, the doors have paint bubbles along bottom edges (have 2 nice original rust free doors for the car). * Front fenders also have paint bubbles along bottom edges , the hood is very solid w/ only a few paint bubbles on the center. * The front & rear valance panels are nice, the rear tail light panel is also in very nice shape. * The front header panel needs replaced (rusted by the camaro emblem. * The rear panel between the trunk & rear window also needs replaced. * The trunk lid has rust under the spoiler, I'd replace it w/ a new one. * The roof rails have some bubbling & visible surface rust ( definitely fixable ) * All the stainless window trim is intact & very presentable * the drip rail molding is missing on both sides * the 1/4 panel lover trim, stainless wheel arch trim & rear bumper are all new or very nice originals * All the SS , Camaro & 350 badges are intact & good shape, but some of the detailing paint is peeling * All the tail light, turn signal & parking light lenses are in place ( the tail light have a few hairline cracks all the rest look good/ nice ( I have 2 new sets of front parking light lenses to go w/ car * SS grill has to be new cause it looks like it (very nice) Again, overall this 69 has had a lot of time & money well spent into it over the years. The majority of all the parts are completely reusable. Basically this is a running & driving car that has sat for a few years & needs a cosmetic restoration to make it nice again. Here are some of the extras that go w/ the car * 2 left & right original complete 69 doors ( nice rust free) * the original 4 speed pedal assembly * 2 new extra interior sail panels (black) * new GM outside mirrors * new speedo cable * new parking light lenses ( 2 new pairs ) * new wood grain console trim * new brake pads & lower ball joints * new urethane body & suspension bushing kit * new chrome master cylinder cover & new GM ignition keys & lock sets * new rear trunk lid spoiler * All the customs paperwork , Japanese tags & any other info. i have on the car !! Please feel free to email or call me, I'm sure there maybe some things i forgot ?? Again, the car does have a clear Virginia title. I have placed arrows on a few of the pics to show where the bubbles are. Feel free to come check the car out !! My asking price is $14,000.00 thanks !!
