This 1971 Mercury Cougar XR7 Coupe has only 45K miles, and is as original as they come. Always garage kept, this California blue plate car has always lived a very sheltered life and has survived the ravages of time well. The paint is original, but there is evidence that the front fenders may have been re-sprayed at one time. The doors have a few dings from storage and the bumpers have light pitting. (most of which should polish out) Vinyl top looks great. Inside, the seats are in great condition as is the dashboard and headliner. The carpet has only minimal wear, and must have been protected by floor mats up until recently. Mechanically, this car has been idle for several years, so after oiling the bores with WD40 we put some gas in the carb and it fired right up. The owner claims the tank has a few pin holes in it, so we recommend it be cleaned and coated before road tests can be performed. The owner also claims that it ran well when parked. Tires are worn out bias plys and should also be changed before driving. A real time warp car that is only becoming rarer in this disposable society. Low Reserve!
