Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a very rare 1967 Corvette Roadster replica. It is very hard to tell it from an original when you see it driving down the road. These were manufactured by the Nice Car Company. See attached paperwork. As the story goes these were constructed from some original Canadian GM molds that were modified. The cost of the kit alone was over $9,000 back in 1994. They made 3 or 4 of them and advertised them in a national publication. Orders immediately came in and with them a lawsuit from GM. I'm not sure of the exact number built but it is only a few. The idea behind the car was to build a 67 vette but give it a modern ride and drive. Today we call that Pro Touring. The car was built on an 80's Monte Carlo SS chassy and originally had a 305 with auto air, tilt, cruise, power windows, etc. The car actually rides much smoother than a real Corvette. When I got the car it was sitting under a car cover outside and needed restored. The car has a number of original Corvette pieces. The bumpers, grill, taillights, dash, glovebox, console, steering wheel and exhaust tips are real Corvette pieces. The 305 has been replaced with a 1966 model 327/350 hp engine that is fresh and hasn't been broken in. Transmission is newly rebuilt turbo 350. All of the the brakes have been replaced as well as the power booster and master cylinder. The gas tank and fuel lines were replaced. New exhaust front to back with the exception of the mufflers. One of the power window units has been replaced and I have another new one in the box. Glass is good and both window go up and down. The car rides on stock corvette ralleys with new tires. This is a high quality fiberglass body that is essentially corvette quality. The car has the stinger big block hood which tilts up like the original. Cool and unusual is the trunk that is invisibly grafted in. Corvette guys are usually surprised and jealous. The paint on this car is in bad shape with blistering over the who car from sitting sealed under a car cover. This would be easy to knock down and repaint. The underside was completely cleaned and repainted in satin black and looks very nice. What needs finished? The interior needs finished. It has original 67 carpet sitting over the original carpet to see how it would fit. The gauges are not all hooked up. Tack and Speedo work. Turn signals and lights work. Power steering is not hooked up as one of the hoses needs replaced. THe front seat is broken down and needs some padding. THe console/shifter are not permenantly attached yet but function. The glove box needs a striker to latch properly. THe emergency brake Corvette pieces are just sitting in place. The air is not hooked up. The engine runs and drives fine but it smokes. The engine is a fresh rebuild with all new parts but used standard cast rings and isn't broken in yet. Has 2.02 double hump heads and a 350 hp cam and a 750 holly. Revs great. Im told it needs to get out on the highway to get it hot and seat the rings. Good compression on all cylinders. Overall it is a very good looking car that needs a lot of tinkering to finish it up. These are very rare and pretty cool. No its not a real 67 vet but you aren't paying 50k and up either. Buyer responsible for transporting the item. $500 deposit due within 48 hrs of close of auction. Remainder due at pick up. Clear Title with State Assigned VIN Tag on Car. Good Luck.On Oct-10-11 at 19:11:29 PDT, seller added the following information: Note on engine: I drove it more this weekend and it seemed to be smoking more than before. I ran a compression check and cylinder #5 was only 30 #. All of the rest were 95-120. That being said that cylinder has a bad ring or isn't seating. The car still hits on 8 cylinders, revs good but smokes. I added a few pics of the soft top and the underside/suspension. Also a pictue in the sun. It looks good in the sun but the car definitely needs paint. THe top is really a permanent soft top and bolts on with 4 bolts. The had to be cut off to get the top off and now need to be replaced. The lights turn on but the doors don't open as the electric motor is not hooked up. The doors were disassembled and cleaned/lubed but not hooked up. I have both inner fenders for the car. THe drivers is on the car and the passenger was removed when I replaced the battery and I haven't put it back on. On Oct-12-11 at 18:37:35 PDT, seller added the following information: So I can't believe I have had this car for several years and didn't notice the section beind the seats tilts up like a 67 vette for the soft top to stow away in. You can see the fiberglass is cut out for the section to be hinged and lift up.
