VW BUS ADS & OTHER V-DUB BUSES The VW BUS above is water-cooled HAPPY BIDDINGOn Oct-05-11 at 20:22:44 PDT, seller added the following information: REVISION NOTICE : THIS IS A 1972 VW BUS Sorry I didn't catch this before someone bid...bugger. But it was brought to my attention this is a 1972....which I can't believe I didn't catch...I always referred to it as a 72, even when I started the listing, I was listing it as a 1972 until I grabbed the title...guessing this is a DMV Error...all it will take is to get the title corrected to the correct year. Will start the process tomorrow...no deposits due until receive corrected title. Should only take a couple weeks. Here's what I was told and I researched it and found it to be correct....the third digit stands for the year 1972...plus it also has a 1972 on up Engine Capartment...this change was to accomodate the TYPE 4 motor ...instead of the TYPE 2. One more thing I should have noticed is the manufactured date...usually everything manufactured after August so beginning in September the manufacture date no longer represents the Model Year...the Model year is usually the year to come. So being a 9/71 manufacturer date...should have helped me realize along with the engine bay that it was a 1972...not sure how it slipped pass me, but it did. So only thing different that I know of so far between a 1971 and a 1972 is the Engine Capartment...all the bumpers, tail lights, turn signals, etc...are the same. Not until 73 was the bumpers, etc...changed. So not many TYPE 4's or T4's with the 68-72 Body style around, cause only made them in 1972. Sorry about the mix up....oops. On Oct-06-11 at 10:27:12 PDT, seller added the following information: ARGGHHH ANOTHER DETAIL I MISSED ... OOPSIn 1972 they also changed the tail lights to the one piece lens like the 73 on up....I was out looking at the VW Bus behind my shop last night and went oops...I'll take some pics today... and post them...can't believe I don't have pics of the back of this bus. V-Dubs dudes have got to be laughing it up. Oh well, next week my mind will be back on track..this week a little scattered brained as you can see. On Oct-06-11 at 15:59:24 PDT, seller added the following information: UPDATED PICS of DASH/BACK OF BUSWow have I learned alot about these buses in the last few days...it is amazing how many people refer to being a Bay Window when it is not or a Kombi when it is not...I also have found many buses on the net with the wrong years too...72 listed when it has the blinkers by the Vent at top...this was started in 1973...etc. So I am kinda of glad this simple mistake has happen...cause this crash course of VW Bus learning has been quite the adventure. I am shocked that the forums our filled with ..I THINKS...and not facts.....also suprised how nicknames have taken over as a better reference to a vehicle instead of the actually model name. Also is shocked that the DMV allows the applicant to fill in whatever Model - Bdy Sty etc... Even if it doesn't match the VIN...you would think the VIN should represent all that...EXAMPLE is clearly on the title I have posted. The MODEL should be MICROBUS: 9-Seater ... not transporter...not KOMBI and for sure not Vanagon...lol...according to the decoders on the net... here's one of them ... http://www.dubnetworks.net/vw-vin-decoder.htm so referring to the VIN this is a MICROBUS....and of course Body Style is not HardTop ...Volkwagen was big on naming the Body Style - Station Wagon....not Van or for sure not Hardtop ...one reason the called it a Station Wagon is I found by one source was to beat the transport tariff. I have also found from ads etc...there major competitor at this time was the Station Wagon so for whatever reason it should be Station Wagon. So my findings will for sure be put on my website cause something like this I think is extremely important. > The 9-Seater is accomplished by the 60/40 split bench seat in front...no buckets with a walkthrough as seen in ad pics. So hope I'm not the only one that has learned a little more on VW BUSES due to my lil hiccup. Thanks again for looking and Happy Bidding.
