Vehicle Detail

1979 Jeep CJ-5. Up for Sale - A 1979 Jeep CJ-5 with a 1974 350cui small-block Chevy engine. Unless listed below, all parts are assumed to be original to the jeep -- though in all honesty, very little of this Jeep is still original. Jeep was built and used for Mudding in Georgia and Florida for the last 20 years. I have records of parts and labor for this going back to 1991. This includes the engine swap documents. Jeep currently runs great. It's loud, powerful, and definitely a head turner. The engine has been geared and tuned for torque. With the current setup, it won't go very fast (Jeep is running 3k rpm at 60mph in 3rd. Might hit 75 or so as a top speed). It is extremely powerful though. I'm selling it because I've put more money than I have into restoring the engine, steering, rear-axle, and accessories. Recently, when trying to get the Jeep registered, it failed emissions due to the lack of a Catalytic Converter and an Air Injection System. Unfortunately, I do not have the cash to add these right now, so I'm selling the Jeep for other projects. The notes and receipts that I have show over $30,000 worth of work and parts have gone into this Jeep. Currently the Jeep has an assigned Colorado VIN. The old VIN plate was damaged and had to be replaced. I have all documentation for the VIN change from the state of Colorado. I'll let the specs speak for themselves: Basics (original parts): Borg Warner T-150 3-speed transmission (2.99 1st) AMC 20 Rear Axle Dana 30 Front Axle Dana 20 Transfer Case Additions: Fiberglass Body 2.5" Lift Kit Performance Tuned Small-Block Chevy 350 V8 (1974) Ported and Polished Heads 30 degree valves LT1 Cam Heavy Valve Springs 30Over Forged Pistons 4-barrel Holley Carb - Model 4175 22 Gallon Gas Tank w/ Stainless Steel Cover Custom front and rear bumpers w/ jerry can, ammo case, and tire carrier. 6-speaker stereo system AM/FM/CD/Aux Aux. Fog Lights Short Side Exhaust 31-10.5-15 TSL Super Swampers with 95% tread Trailmaster Shocks and Steering Stabilizers Bestop Softtop with cloth doors Army cargo box instead of rear seat. Box is filled with tow cables, chains, tools, and oil. Recently Rebuilt/Repaired (~1yr or so): Starter Clutch Front Locking Hubs AMC 20 Rear Axle and Diff (3.53 Gears) Oil Pump Minor Issues: +Small leak on power steering pump and box. Very slow drip, maybe a drop a day. Currently using Power Steering Restoration fluid to help re-lube seals. This has been slowing the drip down. +Heater has not been fully installed. I bought the jeep without a heater, and added one later on. The core and vents are installed. I have not connected the wiring or controls yet. Nor have I tested the fan. +Tear in base of passenger seat. This has been repaired with duct tape. Major Issue: ***Jeep does not have modern emissions equipment on exhaust. It is currently missing a Catalytic Converter and Air Injection System. As such, the jeep will be sold as a tow-away. It must be transported, not driven, away from my property. This is only an issue in counties with emissions standards. Unfortunately, I bought it from a county without these, and transported it to a county that does.*** Final Notes: All given equipment is listed to the best of my ability using my own knowledge and the documents that I was provided with the Jeep. These are believed to be accurate. However, I may have made mistakes. Please use the included photos to identify other parts/additions. I apologize if there are any inconsistencies. Jeep will be sold with extra parts -- 2 unmatched tires. 1 main heater vent. 1 set of new indicator lights. Jeep will be sold As-Is. Please ask questions. I would be happy to help with answers. If you would like to see/test the vehicle, then please contact me so we can arrange something. I live South of Denver, Colorado. Buyer will be responsible for all transportation of the vehicle. Remember, though it runs well, it must be transported from my property. $200 non-refundable deposit is due with 48hrs of auction. Failure to do so will result in a re-list of Jeep. Paypal may be used for this and buyer must pay PayPal fees. Remainder of payment is due within 10 days of auction end and must be sent via verified source -- Cashiers Check, Money Order, etc. I will not accept PayPal for the final payment unless buyer pays all PayPal fees. Vehicle is listed locally. As such, I reserve the right to remove this auction listing at any time.
