Vehicle Detail
This fine automobile is a 2 owner car. I have owned it for 8 yrs . This model is the non Vista roof as Buick ceased production of that model in 1969-70. It has the chrome roof rack and 3 inch shorter wheelbase which makes it feel sportier to drive. This car also has Factory Air Conditioning. I have updated the A/C with new hoses, new compressor and R134A. It blows nice and cold. All fan speeds work as does Max Air and Vent. It comes with a factory installed AM/FM radio. I added the rear speaker in a separate enclosure seen on the rear deck. This car has ALL 4 MATCHING factory floormats! A true rarity. The tailgate window is power and operates from the switch at the dash. The key switch at the tailgate works intermittently. This auto comes with the factory 3 speed automatic transmission which is fully operational. It has power disc brakes. These have not required any service other than fluid change. The battery is about 1 year old. Tires were replaced about 5 yrs ago and have approx. 2500 miles on them. I have a set of BUICK Road wheels - original 14x6 that need the black repainted I will throw in along with some new centers. The exhaust is original and is in normal operating condition. Shocks have been replaced and the rears are GM type Air Adjustable with the air stem at the rear tag area. Radiator was flushed, hoses and fan belts replaced just after purchase. The engine is the Buick 350 4 barrel optional motor. It is very quick. First it needed new exhaust manifolds as these have no gasket. It required both heads to be removed to facilitate removal and planing of the surfaces. While it was apart, I opted for a valve job with hardened seat (why not). The technician was kind enough to respray the engine with Buick Red while it was apart. All tune-up parts, vacuum lines air cleaner element and such were replaced when it went back together. It has run like a Buick should ever since. To sum this up, the car has received very fine care mechanically since my ownership and prior to my ownership. This initial repair was about $3500 not including ac work which was about $900. All of those receipts go with the car. The shop I use will be glad to help you understand all this via phone call. The exterior of the car required a complete refinish as 1972 paint does not hold up under normal use. All body imperfections were repaired. This is what I would describe as a Body-On restoration. But, all glass was removed. All 4 doors, and hood were removed. This allowed for full color uniformity as I changed the factory color just slightly. The original green was a brassy green popular in '72 but I opted for a slight variation that is more of a silvery green that I find more pleasing to the eye. This refinish job of course included some rust repair. The quality of these repairs was such that no body blemishes have reappeared since then (5yrs ago,) The headliner was replaced after the refinish as the old on was damaged during removal of the roof rack. The rest of the interior is relatively untouched as it was near perfect when I bought the car. The final touches of the refinish included a new windshield as the old one was scratched. The bumpers were removed and re-plated. The very small rub strips were replaced front and rear. The body shop (Superior- well known in St Petersburg) bill was about $10,000 dollars (See Photo)and they may also be contacted.
