Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J with 115,000 original miles with original paint and a white vinyl top. The exterior is Bermuda Blue Metallic and the interior is Medium Bright Blue Metallic. I bought it from the original owner who intended to restore it. Luckily, the car sat on an asphalt parking lot (see lead photo) and not on grass for about 10 years. I towed the car back to a friend's auto shop and we got it running. The car runs and stops but to be on the safe side, it should be transported to its final destination. As you can see it needs a total restoration but all is not lost. If you're restoring a 1970 Grand Prix and you need parts, then this car is for you; it's all there, it's all original and nothing is missing. This is what I come to know about this GP:All of the glass is original, tinted and in great shape. It has a rear window defogger. None of the glass is broken and seems to be without any scratches (amazing). The car has power windows, power door locks and remote driver's side mirror. It has a factory AM/FM stereo radio and 8-track player mounted behind the console (very rare option). It has the original "XH" (see photo) Pontiac 400 cubic inch/350 hp engine, turbo 400 trans. and 10 bolt posi. rear. It has all the original stainless moldings, around the doors and windows--both inside and out; all moldings are in good condition. The engine is all original including the original Quadrajet carburetor. As you can see in the photos, even the fan shroud is in excellent condition (no cracks anywhere). It has the original 14" Rally 2 wheels and the original trim rings are in the backseat along with the front license plate bracket and the outside trim piece for the trunk. The front bucket seat frames are in good condition. The back seat is in rough condition but the seat frame appears to be OK. The rear bumper can be rechromed, the rear taillights are cracked. The front bumper is beyond repair. All of the frame rails and floor pans appear to be in good condition but make no mistake this car needs a total restoration. If you decide to restore this car and I hope you do, many of the parts are available from Ames Perf. Prod., Inc. http://www.amesperf.com/ a catalog for full size GPs is available on line. It has a clear Maryland title. This is a “No Reserve” auction. Check my Ebay history; I have strived to maintain a 100% positive feedback rating over the years. I’m not an expert on the value or condition of these vehicles, and therefore, my opinion of a vehicle may not be the same as yours. I suggest serious bidders come examine this GP, or have someone come and inspect it to make sure you know what you are bidding on before you bid. Feel free to request as many other photos as needed. I’m not a dealer, this is just a hobby, so feel free to ask any questions and any inspection is always welcome. It’s a good idea to get an estimate of the transport costs ahead of time and that can be obtained from www.autotransport.com (key in Zip Code 20772 for the starting point). Due to some recent scams involving some shady transporters, I will make sure that the transporter you select is the same company (person) who physically picks up the car. Also, I will take and send you photos of the transport rig, its license plate/driver and the car being loaded, including its securement and placement on or within the rig for peace of mind. NOBODY DOES ALL THAT!! Should you have any questions, feel free to call me at 301-943-1602 or send me an email with your name and phone number. VEHICLE TERMS: The car is SOLD AS-IS with no guarantee/warranty either expressed or implied. Successful bidder pays $300 down payment (PayPal is preferred) for the vehicle within 48 hours of bid close and should make arrangements to pick up the car within 2 weeks of auction close. Seller releases all responsibility for the car upon receipt of payment from bidder. Buyer will assume all responsibility for said vehicle, including but not limited to liability. The seller has the right to end the auction early. On Sep-28-11 at 14:50:00 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: At the time I bought the car, the original owner told me she had the title to the vehicle at home in a file cabinet and would call me when she found it. She was not able to locate the title but she has agreed to go to the dept. of motor vehicles to obtain a duplicate. I am in contact with her daily and I'm hoping that a duplicate title will be obtained by the close of the auction. I am sure that this will get done in the next few days! Thanks! On Sep-29-11 at 14:46:48 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I was finally able to get into the trunk today without breaking the key lock. All in all, the trunk looks to be OK and I was surprised to find the original spare and jack. Good Luck in Bidding!
