Vehicle Detail

Selling at auction is a 1962 Mercedes Benz 220 SB sedan: I originally purchased two 1962 Mercedes 200 Series automobiles for my son and I to work on as a project together. Due to time constraints we have decided to sell them both beginning with this one. I also hope to have the second one up for sale in the three or four days. A little history: The gentleman that I bought the cars from purchased them as daily drivers for himself and his wife, one blue the other red. He flew out of state to pick this one up and drove it back. He stated that he drove a good portion of the way at 85 mph and the car performed great with no problems. This 220SB became his daily driver until he parked the cars, where they remained for the next five years, due to family issues. Once I took possession of the cars and starting with the blue one, I began some routine diagnostics and clean up. Most of my attention centered around cleaning the fuel tank, carburators, and issues associated with having sat for five years. The motor starts and sounds great, just needs some further fine tuning. After bleeding the brakes and clutch I feel very confident that this fine German import could once again assume the role as a daily driver. The Exterior: Generally speaking the body of the car is in very good shape for its age. Notable is the Fintail design first introduced in 1959 and is somewhat a rarity. This vehicle has all the original glass and all operable windows are functional. The front window has a six inch crack in the upper left corner and a just added chip. I believe that the crome is complete with two of the lower chrome trim pieces uninstalled but included with the car. Also included and yet to be installed are the four chrome corner pieces that rap around each corner above the bumper. And yes, the original Mercedes emblem is intact. All four hubcaps are original, two tires are new, and the original jack is funcional along with the tire iron. The Interior: prominent would be the tan leather which is in remarkably good condition. The original steering wheel as seen in the picture compliments the interior well. To my knowledge all instumentation and accessories are original and functional, with the exception of the radio, which is aftermarket. The headliner in the rear is present but needs to be refastened. The area behind the rear headrest under the window could be replaced as it has been weathered by the sun. Just a quick note on the pictures. I was very happy with the photo's, but they run the risk of making the car look possibly better than......, well I'll leave that up for debate as of course I am biased.
