Vehicle Detail
Here is an interesting truck, a 1968 GMC powered by a Cummins turbo diesel engine - classic styling combined with modern power and heavy-duty 4 wheel drive components: 6BT 5.9 Cummins turbodiesel with Bosch VE injection pump (no computer necessary) 5 speed manual transmission with overdrive and hydraulic clutch NP205 gear-driven transfer case Dana 60 front axle with disc brakes, lockout hubs, and 3.54 gears Dana 70 rear axle with 3.54 gears Power steering Power disc brakes The body of this truck is a 1968 GMC with a 1968 Chevrolet front clip. It is in good overall condition, as you can see in the photos below, and was "restored" several years ago. The body does have some body filler in places, it is not perfect, but is not rusty junk by any means. The inside of the bed, the bottom side of the bed, and the bottom side of the cab have all been sprayed with Rhino Lining bedliner material. All of the glass is in good condition, and the windshield is new (no rock chips, pits, wiper scratches, etc). The doors open and close easily. The interior of the truck, again, was "restored" several years ago. The seat, dash pad, door panels, arm rests, visors, etc are in good shape. A later model Chevy steering wheel has been fitted. The metal of the dash is not perfect - I think it was bent and pulled back into shape. It will require more work before it's worthy of new paint, but looks acceptable as it is now. There is no radio or glovebox insert. The engine is the infamous Cummins turbodiesel, from a 1991 Dodge truck. It runs very well and has amazing power. It is coupled to a Getrag 5 speed manual transmission, which transfers the power to an NP205 transfer case. The front axle is a kingpin Dana 60, and the rear is a Dana 70. Exhaust is a pair of 5" mitre-cut chrome stacks that sound great. A brand new 4-core radiator keeps everything cool, and the alternator is new as well. The steering shaft has new Borgeson u-joints. This truck was built by a friend of mine. It is basically a '68 GMC body mounted on a 1991 Dodge Cummins frame and drivetrain. It is currently registered and driven regularly, although there are many areas of the project that are unfinished. For example, the fuel gauge and speedometer are not operational, but the oil pressure and water temp gauges are. There is currently no heater, but it is a factory A/C cab and the firewall has not been permanently modified (so a heater and/or A/C system could be installed easily). Overall, this is a great truck that is ready to be taken to the next level, or enjoyed as-is. It is a truck that you can get in and drive right now without concern. All the "important" stuff works - headlights, wipers, brake lights, turn signals, etc. It runs down the road nicely, sounds great, and is a lot of fun. The power steering, power disc brakes, 5 speed transmission, and powerful Cummins engine make it very easy to drive, especially compared to a stock 1968 pickup. If you have any questions, please ask them prior to placing your bid. If you are local, or know someone who is, please consider coming to see the truck in person. Different things are important to different people, and while I have tried to describe all important aspects of the vehicle, it's impossible to cover every little detail. I reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason, as the truck is for sale locally. If you're serious about purchasing, please get in touch with me. Terms of Sale Buyer will be responsible for either having the vehicle shipped, or picking it up in person. I will sell to US buyers only! I expect a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of the end of auction. Payment in full is due within 4 days of the end of auction, no exceptions. I will accept cash or cashier's check for balance of payment. If picking up the vehicle in person within the 4 days, I will require the balance due in cash at that time. Please don't bid if you can't or won't pay! I know this doesn't need to be explained to most of you, but with all the new users something has to be said. Ebay is not a game, it costs money to list things here, please don't waste my time and money. Thank you!
