I bought this 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ to drive in the winter and I liked it so much I eventually bought a newer model (I upgraded to a WJ) and I no longer need it. Last year it started showing a bit of wear so I bought new tires, bought a new battery, and had the exhaust system replaced. I then found that the brakes were a little less effective than I thought so I took it to a shop to be fixed, had most of the entire brake system replaced (pads, rotors, shoes, master cylinder, and much more) and the shop must have not done something right because it came away with very little brake pressure. By then winter was over and I parked it, then I bought my newer Jeep. The good: The 5.2L V8 runs excellent, has loads of power - I have used this to pull out stumps and it doesn't even feel it body in pretty good shape with some scrapes and nicks but no major, serious damage starts and runs everytime I go to try, which I do every week or so to keep it in shape 4x4 works great, I was very happy to be able to easily drive around in horrible weather without the slightest worry New exhaust, battery, and the tires (Goodyear Wranglers) probably have a couple hundred miles on them the bad: No radio the drivers door wiring was patched by the previous owner and it should be redone. I think it has a break which prevents the windows from working but I have no verified this. It's possible the switch that locks the windows is not in the circuit. it's not a pretty fix that was done, I had always intended to take it out and resolder it properly however that opportunity never presented itself. The brakes - could be an easy fix from rebleeding them to properly adjusting the shoes, however I am not prepared to spend any more money on this. Due to this fact YOU WILL WANT TO TRAILER THIS AWAY! I do not think it's safe for driving until this issue is addressed. Jeep's are pretty simple creatures though so I don't imagine this will be incredibly complex an issue once it gets to a shop - however I will not warranty that statement, it's just speculation. I'd give it a good tune up, change the filters, and fluids before putting it back on the road. It has been sitting for a while and even though it's been started regularly I'd say a tune up wouldn't be a bad idea. The surround on the inside of the hatch has been removed since the hatch sticks. It's a common problem on ZJ's so I left the surround off so it's easier to open. If it sticks, just pop it from the inside with a screwdriver and no issues. Overall this is a pretty decent car, put a little work into it and you'd have a good daily driver or a crawler or whatever you want.
