I'm apprehensive about selling the car because during my ownership, what I thought would be a simple refresh project turned out to be an out-of-control M5 build up. A lot of love, care, effort and money went in to this build but at the end of the day, I have way too many cars and its becoming increasingly difficult to manage and enjoy them, so I’ve decided to downsize. In a nutshell, this US-spec M5 was fully converted into a Euro-spec M5 and in addition, rare Dinan upgrades were also installed. I worked on building up the car for the last 2 years finding all the rare and desirable upgrades that would make this car even more exclusive and special. As the car stands now, this is what I had imagined this M5 should've left the M Division factory over 24 years ago. I think it is the nicest and rarest of E28 M5s with all the combination of upgrades working together perfectly. I purchased the car 2 years ago bone stock from the original owner who stored for the car for 10 years. I have all the maintenance records of the car since new, including the original window sticker. When I purchased the car, the SLS suspension was completely shot, dashboard was cracked many places, brakes were squeaking, exhaust was rusted, clear coat was peeling on the hood and roof, numerous dings on the side panels and doors, original wheels were eaten up by curb rash and tires were worn and cracked. All suspension components were in need of replacing as most of the rubber bushings and boots were dried up and cracked. The leather on the driver seat had the typical wear on the left side bolsters. Additionally, there were 5 years of unpaid DMV registration fees that I had to pay to get the registration current. Mechanically the engine ran well albeit it wasn’t running optimally. There were leaks coming out of the oil pan and the steering hoses. In essence, the car desperately needed a general maintenance to get it up to par. With that said, the car underwent a “no expense spared” refresh, maintenance and build up process. I will try to be as detailed as I can with all the work I've done on the car. The car just finally came out of the paint shop, it was a painful 4 month wait for the shop to redo the paint as everything that can and should be removed to prep the car for painting was removed. The body was then sanded down, all dings and dents were repaired. The paint applied was a 3-stage OEM paint by Sikkens Coatings. After the paint and clear coat, the body was color sanded to remove the the orange peel. After the polishing and buffing, all parts were installed back on the car. The Euro bumpers, Euro front valence were color-matched to the body. Now that I've put it up for sale, I renewed the registration again with the DMW and I'm expecting to receive the current stickers/tags in the next few weeks. All fees have been paid and up to date. The car was smog tested last week, Sep 8, 2011 and it passed easily with super, super, super low emissions. The smog test results and certificate are good for 90 days, so the new owner of the car will not have to get the car smogged again. I have 2 original copies of the smog certificate that I can hand over to the new owner. Note 2: I ordered brand new Dinan logo floormat set (front and rear) a few weeks ago and I'm expecting to receive them soon from Dinan. The car will come with these new floormats, guaranteed. The color is the matching Natur beige color mats. Note 3: I own the car outright and possess the owner's title, the title is clean as indicated in the Carfax report. I also have all the maintenance receipts of the car since new, owner's manual, original ECU chip, cassette cleaner kit, and the period correct "M5" keychain that was originally sold with the car when it was new. On Sep-14-11 at 17:02:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Note 4: The front Euro chin spoiler I installed is brand new but it did not come with the matching tow hitch window covers. I had to order those covers separately. I just picked them up today at my local parts store and will be installing them tomorrow. So for the record, the Euro chin spoiler is complete, nothing missing.
