Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my Wife's first car. We bought this in 2003 for her daily driver. During that time I have replaced the starter, generator, carburator, fuel pump, coil, cylinders, pistons, heads, battery, voltage regulator, fan belt, heater air hoses, tires, brakes, clutch and throttle cables, oil pump, fuel guage, I think that is it..... all to keep it running for her every day transportation..... The Beetle is a 1967 which is the first year of 12 volt power and the last year of the chrome tubular bumpers. It was also a big year for a lot of one year only parts which are all still included with this beetle. The lights, washers/wiper, and hazard knobs in black. The push button door handles, front turn signals/parking lights. Roughly 2-3 years ago I replaced the front right fender. The previous was rusting out where the headlight bucket was so I replaced it. I may have the original. The beetle has been driven off and on during that time. currently the beetle doesn't cold idle very well but drives fine once warm. this beetle has the 1600 dual port in it from roughly 1972 if I remember correctly, I do have a dissasembled 1500 single port which is the correct engine for this car - I just ran out of steam to rebuild it and install it. plus the 1600DP is nice and fast. Since it is not the original engine please know that the above mileage is only what the odometer says not whatever the actual maybe - it has gone over once in our ownership. yes my wife has a lot of patience.... It has an aftermarket radio but the dash has not been altered in any way. There are a few spots where body repair has been done by someone in the past and I would recommend repairing the floor pan under the battery. the previous owner welded in some patch panel poorly, he also installed a heater fan booster on the drivers side only. it isn't wired up as my wife thought it was too noisy. Right after we purchased it (to save money....) I put four new euro tires on it from the nearby pep boys. they are great tires and still have a lot of life left to them. The heat does work well in this beetle. A cold wife will make you lean how to make the heaters work well. Not installed but included are a set of pop out windows for the back seats. They are take outs from another beetle that I traded a plate of my mother's christmas cookies for. This beetle is an under the hood gas fill up. Always makes people look twice and your wife will always have you fill the car. currently one of the headlights and turn front turn signals is burned out. it drips oil from the engine area (around the oil pump I think.) Please ask questions if you have them. This car would be great to restore. You could also drive it with some tlc.
