Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a RUST FREE 1955 MGA that has bin in storage more then 25 yrs!!!! This automobile was originally purchased in Roswell, New Mexico where it stayed at least through 1980. This is supported by $1800 worth of sales receipts for a host of parts from Moss Motor’s, that go with the car but many were never installed. These include a new complete set of carpets in addition to new Moss Motor’s complete upholstery set. The new door panels where installed and appear new. There are brand new side curtains still in the original box with the protective film still in place from the 1980 purchase as well. The plywood was all replaced and it appears to have been polyurethaned and sealed with silicone around every edge.[very neat job] The car was purchased by my neighbor in Oklahoma while in the Air Force in the eighties and when he was transferred he removed the spark plugs put oil in each of the cylinders, replaced the plugs and then pulled the radiator and drained all the fluid and did the same for the fuel tank. The car stayed in storage until he brought it to Florida, on a trailer a few years ago. While he was parking it I drove by and was amazed that even the wheel wells where rust free and the rocker panels where free of bondo and rust as well as the fenders.I purchased the car on the spot, pulled it down the street to my garage and after spraying the crome and the wheels with CRC marine anti- corrosion spray. I covered it and didn’t touch it until this past week when I pulled it out to take a closer look. I have not attempted to start it but the motor is free and can be turned using the fan with the plugs removed. The odometer shows 32,809 but I can’t be certain. I do know that with the oil cap open the inside of the valve cover looks very clean and there is no sludge at all. As you would imagine the tires are dry rotted but hold air and the steering wheel plastic has decomposed. The front valence under the bumper is dented and should be replaced. If you have ever wanted to own one of these this is the most rust free example I’ve seen. Come’s with all receipts as well as the original owners manual and workshop manual and magazine articles. I have a Moss Motor’s parts catalog. Any questions please ask. Robert PS The master cylinder is in a box but probably should be rebuilt and it has a new 1980 wiring harness installed .
