Vehicle Detail

1969 Triumph Spitfire for restoration. This car starts easily and runs - could use additional tuning to make it more roadworthy. It is essentially complete and a lot of work has already been done. More photos are available for viewing on Photobucket at: http://s1217.photobucket.com/albums/dd390/webmotors/1969%20Triumph%20Spitfire/ Here are the details: Engine – #FE32491E. Starts well, no smoke. New points, spark plugs, condenser, rotor, distributor cap, ignition wires New water pump and fan belt New rear engine mounts Fresh oil and oil filter New fuel filter and fuel lines Heater hoses and radiator hoses are new Battery and muffler are fairly new The exhaust manifold has a crack in it. A section of the exhaust pipe from the manifold to the muffler has been repaired with a flexible pipe. Transmission/Clutch –New clutch disc and pressure plate. All gears work. The shift linkage has been re-bushed. Clutch master cylinder and slave have been rebuilt. Suspension –Condition unknown, but the car seems to ride well and the shocks work – no bouncing. Tires are old and cracked and should be replaced. Brakes – Rear slave cylinders and front calipers have been disassembled and rebuilt with new seals. New front and rear flexible brake lines. Master cylinder was rebuilt, but will need to be checked out and maybe redone – doesn’t feel quite right, but definitely locks up the wheels. Parking brake works. Accessories – The wipers and heater/defroster fan work, blinker works. All instruments are in place and work. New speedometer cable. Most of the lights work but some will have to be sorted for burned out bulbs, bad grounds, etc. Interior – The seat have rips and holes that have been patched. The foam in the seat bottoms and backs need to be replaced. Carpeting is not perfect, but mostly there. Dash top has been recovered. Exterior – The paint is not good – just a Rustoleum aerosol spray job to protect the areas of new metal and make the car all one color. There are several layers of old paint that need to be sanded or stripped off. The top is in good condition and the rear window is clear but does have a few scuff marks. Chrome is generally average to poor but not rusted and some is salvageable. New rear light lenses. Windshield has a few wiper scuffs and it needs a new gasket. The side windows are good. It does need weather stripping around the doors. Sheet Metal – The car has filler from past repairs, but most all the rust has been cut out and new sheet metal MIG welded in. (see Photobucket photos.) The body is fairly straight. There are still a couple of holes in the floor that need patching and there is some rust under the battery. Gaps vary from good to poor. I’ve tried to outline all I know about the car, but feel free to email web@vermontel.net or call Bill at 802-875-2974 with any questions or arrange for an inspection. Could be a fun restoration project or just do some tinkering and a paint job and make a fun driver. Thanks for looking!
